We started @ the Lodge with a group led by a Ranger, but quickly struck out on our own, as we had already learned the history in the previous days' NPS movie, Ranger Talks and the Trolley ride. This is a moderately difficult climb, but...More

Trailhead is just steps from the lodge and switchbacks to one of the highest points above the crater for fantastic views and photos. Hike is competely shaded in morning, totally exposed in afternoon.

Panoramic views indeed! This strenuous hike is just to your right from the Crater Lake lodge. You can see the climb and the peak looks so intimidating and it can be. It is a total of 3.6 miles and a steep grade to 1,000+ feet....More

This is a great hike if you're able to. A varied but well marked trail to the top which offers stunning views of the late. Highly recommend.

The trail is steep and strenuous but not that long. It's about 1.7 miles to the top. And then, of course, 1.7 miles back down. The air was smoky from nearby wildfires so we took our time. Switchbacks wind you around the mountain - stupendous...More

Absolutely worth the sweat and shortness of breath! Lol. The trail is a little rocky but anyone who is moderately active can do this trail. The view going up and down is gorgeous. On one side you can see the trees and on the other...More

Hike early to avoid the heat...our views were limited by forest fires but the hike was a nice way to see the lake.

We did this 3.5 mile hike in early August as a family in two hours. Great views all the way up and at the tip. There was snow, but that made it a nice reprieve from the heat. I wouldn't recommend it for toddlers... there...More
