The caverns never get old

We took our 8 and 10-year-old grandsons for their first experience. They had a blast pretending they were miners and looking for all the new views around the next corner.

Carlsbad Caverns National Park is incredibly interesting. I walked into the caverns through the natural cave entrance. The walk is very steep and not wheelchair friendly. The alternative is to take an elevator to the bottom of the cavern, but the wait can be quite long (hours). The cave is know for the massive amounts of bats that fly out... More

This is an amazing sight 800 feet below the surface. The Big Room is a massive cavern that goes on and on and showcases all the typical cave features of stalagmites, stalactites, columns, flow stones, drapery, soda straws, and underground pools. Allow at least 1-2 hours to walk the loop and see the sites and read the information kiosks. Prepare... More

The caverns are quite spectacular. But they can get very crowded. We got there just as they opened, and were on the second elevator down to the caverns. And on our way out, there was no wait for the elevator. We heard form others that in the late afternoon the previous day, the wait for the elevator to go back... More

What a great place to visit! It is a wonder to see inside of the caverns, yet the drive up is just as beautiful! Be sure to take in every second!

I am not a cave type person and my wife has trouble with dark closed in spaces. Fortunately the covers are large and lit ok. She still struggled but was able to enjoy the experience. We walked down 800 feet in a mile. I was sweating as the cave is 90% humidity. The views were spectacular. I recommend the walk... More

Last year we were here to be disappointed to find that the elevator to the caverns was not in operation. I'm happy to say we were able to return to complete our visit this time. Give yourself 2 hours or more to walk through the Big Room and really take it all in. It happened to be school break this... More

We were visiting Marfa and big bend and flying out of El Paso ... we discovered that Carlsbad was not that far out of our way to El Paso airport from big bend and broke up the trip by spending a night in carlsbad. Totally glad we did it - amazing - don't expect anything special from hotel strip outside... More

It was my husband, 5 and 2 year old girls and myself here. We all absolutely loved it. We made it farther back into the caves than we expected. My little 5 year old received her Ranger badge and still talks about it. It was an Awesome experience and look forward to bringing the girls back when they are older.
