This was the third of three cave tours (King's Palace and Left Hand Tunnel were the first we went on) and was the most exciting. There were elements of the cave (eg. cave pearls) that were unique to this very deep cave, 860 ft. below sea level. We learned that the newest part of the cave is actually the lower... More

In the lower cave tour, your travel in a group of about 15 people who are each carrying a candle lantern. This is your only light and gives you a good sense of what it was like for the early exploration of these caverns. After going through the Big Room, which is well-lighted, this gives you a very different perspective.... More

A nice adventure to start the day - small group, beautiful formations, knowledgeable guide, and some moderate exercise. After lunch, we did the Big Room (hiking in the the natural entrance). Definitely did things in the right order, and the two experiences really complemented each other nicely. The Lower Cave rope and ladder entry is fun, and probably pretty exciting... More

Our family took this tour and really enjoyed it! There were 12 people on the tour with two rangers. The tour was informative and a great way to see another part of the cave that is less traveled. In order to down to the cave we had to go down a rope and three ladders. You also had to come... More

Jason was our Ranger with Lacey keeping an eye on the stragglers :) ! We thoroughly enjoyed this tour to a less visited part of the cave. We even saw "life" down here as Jason found a Cave Cricket and a Horse tail worm for us to see. For older folks, it does require a bit of agility as the... More

This tour was rated strenuous, but if you can climb a ladder safely, are in decent shape, and can listen to instructions, you'll be fine. My husband is afraid of heights and was fine on this tour. The climb down and back up the ladders is worth it. We saw cave pearls and parts of the cave that you can't... More

Not too challenging, my 13 year old daughter and I had a blast on this tour. We were able to see parts of the cave not otherwise seen by the general public, including areas explored by Jim White. There were 12 guests and 2 ranger guides. They gave lots of history and info, and we were both entertained for the... More

My wife, grandson and myself were traveling from Roswell where we spent 4 wonderful days of sight seeing and tour taking. I had made plans for Carlsbad to stay at the Best Western there. Carlsbad is only an hour drive from Roswell not much farther to the caverns,so we decided to leave early and go on to the caverns to... More

This was a *cool* stop, in both senses of the word. We took the elevator down and then did the Big Room loop. My daughter completed her Junior Ranger activity!

We drove many miles out of our way to come to see the caverns. We were not disappointed. We were not able to do all the walking but what we did was spectacular. The caves are so amazing. The climb is very difficult if you have any walking issues, which we do, so we had to turn around before reaching... More
