Some great views above Shafer canyon, great at sunset. In may it wasn't too crowded but there will be other people. Despite being amazing, I personally preferred the views from Grand View and Orange Cliffs overlook.

This will probably be your first view of Canyonlands and it is worth the walk over from the Visitor's Center. Beautiful overview and interesting look at the windy Shafer Trail below.
