There is no shortage of spectacular and panoramic views in southeast Utah, from Arches National Park to Canyonlands National Park to Capitol Reef State Park. But some are better than others. One of the highlights is Dead Horse Point State Park, which offers a dramatic...More

We came to Dead Horse Point State Park after a day in Canyonlands, and it was the big highlight for me. While there is a nice visitor center and a network of trails that would be fun to hike, it's the view over the canyons...More

I'm not sure if there are hiking trails in this park or not (I think there are), but if you're short on time like we are, you can just go to the point with beautiful panoramic views of the canyon. Too beautiful for words! It...More

The narrow access road is a stunning introduction to DHP park. Plenty of parking and the point itself has been excellently tailored for maximum viewing from all angles, including a specially built platform. There is also some covered seating at the point itself. Absolutely worth...More

On the way out of Canyonlands National Park, we went to Dead Horse Point Overlook (since this is not a National Park, there is a separate fee of $20 to be paid), parked at the end of the road and did a few steps to...More

Great introduction to Canyonlands - well worth the entry fee to see its few key sights. Loved the horseshoe bend. Doesn't take long to see the whole place so can be combined with other parks.

Stopped by Dead Horse Point on our way out to Canyon Lands. Fantastic views of the river and the surrounding canyons. Very much a Grand Canyon feel, and the parking lots were really close to the overlooks. Plenty of places to eat lunch.

Great scenery, good reasonably easy hiking, surly service from a teenager in the Van Cafe at the information centre. You can drive straight up to the main scenic lookout without having to hike. Not on the National Park annual pass as is a State Park...More

This is a terrific place to start the morning if you're staying in Moab. It's not too busy at 5am and there are acres of cliff edges to hang yourself off to get a decent photograph to impress / depress all your friends who may...More

A less crowded Grand Canyon in early fall, beautiful and awe-inspiring. Dead horse lookout is similar to Horseshoe bend in the Grand Canyon. Recommend taking a day or few to explore this park, easy access trails and parking.
