You don't have to hit the trail to see Thor's hammer. You can see it from one of the viewpoints. For those who have trouble with altitude, you get stunning views from either walking or driving to the different view points in Bryce canyon. Something for all.

Should you stop to see Thor's Hammer in Bryce Canyon National Park? Yes. And then should you move on to go someplace else? No No No Do stop to take in the views around Thor's Hammer. It seems a trip wouldn't be complete without an image or more of this iconic feature on your camera. But then there is so much more to take in within the general area. Add one of the hiking options. You'll get to see different perspectives of Thor's Hammer as you walk past it, and you'll add more of the wonderful Bryce Canyon experience to your visit.

As Thor's Hammer should be! It was great to see this iconic Bryce Canyon hoodoo in winter glory. Great photography opportunity in ever-changing lighting.

It's iconic because it's easily recognizable. If one allows oneself the time, there are hundreds (maybe thousands) of personal "iconic" formations to be found among the vast array of hoodoos amassed along the rim. It just takes patience, time and some imagination. This, for us, is some of the ethereal magic of this Park.
