This is my third trip to this park. The experience gets better every time. Perhaps it's maturity. After 40+ years of visiting National Parks I'm still at a loss to express the wonder and breathtaking experiences these parks provide to me. Black Canyon is wholely unique. Make sure you take a geology walk with a Ranger like Mary Jane Masters.... More

The south rim drive is gorgeous. There are around 12 pull offs and are well worth it. Take your time and enjoy them all. Well worth it. It is only around 15 minutes from Montrose.

Variety of amazing views all along the drive. Enjoy the viewpoints, many of them with good access. Friendly and informative Rangers at the Visitor Center.

Great drive in the NP with lots of overlooks. Some great spots right along the road for viewing and some you have a short hike out to.

This nicely paved road will take you along the Black Canyon and provide you with many spots to pullout and admire the views on the canyon. Take your time and stop at each pullout and hike back to the viewpoint areas. This is a great Park!

Be sure to allow yourself enough time to stop at the overlooks and at the Visitor's Center (there is an amazing overlook behind the center). We were in awe at the beauty of the canyon and the river far, far below. I'd recommend arriving early as it did get very busy by mid-morning. I'm so glad we got to see... More

So many reviews I read said the north rim was more beautiful. But, according to the map it would have added an extra two hours to our trip. Therefore we chose the south rim even if it meant seeing other people and about 20 cars per stop. It was never too crowded to have a wonderful viewing experience. As you... More

The views along this road are stunning. Try to visit in morning and evening so you see how natural light plays with the canyon. The railings at the viewpoints are suitable for adults, but I was nervous with my 5 year old. They can easily slip under or between rails. Just keep a close eye (and hand) on them. The... More

This road is only 6 miles long from the visitors Centre. There are 12 spots to view the canyon from and each are worth the stop. Some are 400 yards from the pull out and strong shoes would be advised.

Amazing. Family was surprised by this geological wonder. Almost missed it until someone shared information. Well worth the time to visit. Picnic areas not the best.
