The canyon is wonderful to see. Very deep, narrow, and dark. Rim trails are a great way to see it. They are relaitively flat and easy for non-hikers. You can also drive around the rim and go to different pull-outs. We went down to the...More

The South Rim Road is the most accessible and most used road to see Black Canyon. The road itself is in good condition and there was more than enough space at viewpoints to park our 30ft long camper. Every viewpoint is worth your while.

What a fantastic place, the canyon. And the best way to see if is from the multiple stops along the south rim drive. Take your bike and leave the car at the visitors center. It is a bit uphill going out, but a great way...More

This short road connects many of the overlooks and the visitor center. It doesn't take long to drive the length of the road -- it's worthwhile to see the whole park, which can be done in half a day.

When visiting the Black Canyon, drive the South Rim Road. There are multiple viewpoints with parking. Use the brochure provided by the park as a map of the drive. The drive offers views of some of the steepest cliffs and oldest rocks in the US....More

When you stand on the south rim road overlook, a black, and deep gorge almost make you dizzy while the breath taking beauty also keep you there, and want to see more. The 17 mile road needs more than 3 hours to stop each overlook,...More

If you can only visit a few lookouts, go to cedar point (better view of the painted wall and river) and cross fissures view. We also recommend taking a picnic lunch down to the bottom along the East Portal Road, here you can have a...More

Probably not on the driving part. I would say it depends on how severe the phobia is.

I assume you are talking South Rim only. I like hiking and spending time in any natural area, but I do not dawdle. The East Portal Drive (2-4hrs), the Warner hike (1 hr) and the Oak Flat Trail (1-3 hrs) and stopping at... More
