They were everywhere and listening to their barks and alarms as we walked around was so cool. Well worth a small side trip down a well maintained rock and dirt road.

Stop here, for a bored teenager.....best spent buck for food to feed the doggies and entertain the kid. Well, actually, it entertained all of us. Cute little critters, with personality. Watch out for the holes, most are easily seen but some are not.

About five miles down the gravel road you'll find this interesting place. Bring your camera, also many bison along the way.

Lots of pups out and about in late may. Keep an eye out for the burrowing owls as they inhabit the same area.

The prairie dogs are crazy. It is amazing how many there are and how vast the prairie dog town is. We even saw a coyote out trying to catch prairie dogs. We fed them some carrots and got a nice close up with them

The Prairie Dog Town is accessible only by driving through the Badlands National Park, which requires a $20 permit (purchased at the visitor's center). They're pretty strict about making sure people aren't "recreating" in the Badlands without paying for the permit first. That's the first...More
