From the entrace to this location is 25 miles or so with winding roads and awesome landscapes all around. At this stop you can take a break, and it truly is a visitor center with a lot of historical information. Of course what is a visitor center without souvenirs.

We arrived at our campground around 5AM. And slept for about 4 hours. Visited the visitor center, bought a bunch of tourist souvenirs, and hit the road. The museum was very informative. Great place to stop.

The visitor center was a great stop for the family to get out and stretch their legs. The museum offers displays of extinct animals that once lived in the Badlands. The visitor center also has a Native American area with a movie to teach you about the native Americans that once lived in the Badlands. The visitor center also has... More

Come here first to get help in planning your visit then see an interesting museum on the park and the fossilized evidence of climate and topography changes. Stop by the archaeology workshop to see the scientists prepare the fossils are analysis. You probably will not see that anywhere else. The only downside is that the center opens late morning and... I have 4 star because they close early in the off season. We looked on google and saw 7 pm, but they actially close at 5, and they don't have ranger... More

The visitor center was great to get information, the rangers were helpful. It was a very hot day and we had hoped to get some water but we had to to the next building - wish it was available in both buildings.
