Preface on road condition: Anyone can drive this as long as your vehicle is in good working order with decent tires. Our car is a Suzuki sx4 hatch, for reference. Nothing fancy, low to the ground. There are rivets intentionally put in the road to...More

I'm not sure if this counts but we drove the Sage Creek Road. The first 5 miles or so are a washboard at best but then it settles down. There are several overlooks and we also saw some bison.

We enjoyed this as much or more than the loop road. Gorgeous views and off the beaten path so less people. Herd of 100 bison off the road and lots of prairie dogs.

This is a dirt road and either a 4x4, truck or study vehicle is recommended. Very nice lookout views of landscape and wildlife. This road is closed during the night.

This is a place where many people will not visit because of the unpaved road. To reach this start from Keystone and take 44 and then Sage creek road. Less crowds and a lot of buffalos. Since it is unpaved you need to drive carefully....More

The overlooks along Hwy 240 are usually packed, unless you're there quite early in the AM. However, there is an unpaved road to the west of Pinnacle's Overlook. You can see it as a solid black line on the map you get when you enter...More

While we loved traveling the road, I'm basing my review off the rustic campground located on Sage Creek: The campground is rather difficult to get to, and takes some patience. It's a very washboarded gravel road. The first time we went we noticed people passing...More

It took us about an hour, stunning views, we encountered two heards of bison right on the road. Many big horned sheep and prairie dogs too. Our car was very dirty, and the road is slow going (gravel), but well worth it!

We completed our loop of the park on this @25 mile gravel road. Would I drive it again...absolutely! Saw many bison, one right on the road, and hundreds of prairie dogs. The scenery was great, and traffic was minimal. I would not recommend this road...More

Would strongly recommend seeing this area of the park using Sage Creek Rim Road. We drove it with care necessary for a gravel road. The views and wildlife encountered were highly rewarding. Saw bison, bug hirn sheep and prairie dogs. Well worth the effort.
