Visiting the Badlands is like visiting another planet. We did the drive over from Keystone, which was a couple of hours but worth it. Notch Trail is short but takes you far enough in that you get a good view of the formations, makeup and...More

Notch Trail is near the northeast entrance so we hiked it in the morning before the June temperatures climbed. The trail is easy to find as it is marked by a sign at the end of a parking lot. For us, the sign made the...More

This trail at 1-1/2 miles round trip is an excellent trail to experience the Badlands up close and personal. Four of us hiked this moderate trail with some elevation gain and a log ladder to climb up and back down on the return trip. This...More

The information provided by the park about this hike suggests that it will take at least 90 minutes and is strenuous. With the exception of the log and cable ladder, it was a moderate hike at worst, and we did it round-trip with lots of...More

This was a nice hike. I have a fear of heights and was wondering about going up the somewhat steep wood and cable ladder. It was no problem. If I can do it anyone can! Nice view once you get to the top.

We took this walk knowing we likely would have to turn around when we got to the ladder (we have a toddler and an infant). Sure enough, we did. Even if we had made it up the ladder, the rest of the walk was on...More

This was a short hike that you must do. It winds thru the badlands—bothvalleys and peaks. You need to climb a ladder on this hike.

This hike takes less than an hour even if you take your time and it's wonderful. It starts in the canyon and then goes up the ladder to the canyon rim and then ends at an awesome vista. What's not to love? The ladder is...More
