We would say take this trail in the afternoon around 4.00 pm. Not only there are less visitors but also the light on the trail for taking pictures is great. The trail is easy to do and takes about one hour. Access is close to Sandy Beach

Depending on what side of the trail you veer to is how the difficulty is. If you go right there are a few place where you have to scramble a little but it wasn't anything difficult or scary. That is the way where you get a great view of Sand Beach. It's a loop trail so you can go that... More

This is a relatively short hike in a loop. We started from Sand Beach and completed in about 1 hour 15 minutes. There were so many families and groups of hikers here. Young and old, all stages of life and fitness levels. Great spot to see Sand beach and the ocean. The trail is fairly shaded so you don't feel... More

We took this trail after we finished the Beehive trail. Since our car is already parked at the Sand Beach parking lot and the day was still early, we gave this a shot. Try to get to the parking lot early. When we left, the cars were parked half a mile on Park Loop Road from the parking lot. We... More

The Great Head Trail has some of the best coastal views in Acadia National Park. For the most part, it is easy, and there are many viewing and photo opportunities along the cliffs, overlooking the Atlantic. You can access the Great Head Trail from Sand Beach or from the Great Head parking area. You will not be sorry!

Great head is accessible from Sand Beach and from the parking lot and road just before reaching the main Sand Beach parking lot. At the top are great views of the bay and rocks to sit and picnic or pause for the view.

I do not hike on a continuous basis, but would not consider it easy except for those serious minded hikers. Novice hikers, this is moderate. Wear good shoes, rocks you climb up or down could become slippery. You may need to use upper arm strength when climbing some small rock walls. This hike is well worth the time. Took us... More

Not too short not too long, perfect length and challenge. Some parts are very rocky, so you probably need to wear hiking shoes.

Wasn't expecting much, but I really enjoyed this hike. It takes you out past Sand beach and is a unique view looking back. No shortage of rocky shorelines and pine tress. The hike is challenging, but not too bad. I liked that there a many spots to get off the trail and walk out on the rocks. To get to... More

This is a short trail, but the views are amazing. The trail is well marked. There is some climbing and navigating, but definitely worth the effort.
