Fun climb with switch backs and ladders.

Very good climb with two teenage boys. Challenging and lots of fun! Try taking the bowl trail down to avoid interfering with climbers trying to ascend.

This is a fun hike as long as you are willing to deal with the exposure. My friends and I went last weekend and loved it. I wouldn't recommend for younger children or those afraid of heights.

This hike was our last one and so much fun. It has exposed cliffs so use your judgement with smaller children and those afraid of heights!!

Went with my wife. Great challenging trail. As you climb, cliffs get steeper and start to feel you are in the last of Mohicans movie. If you are afraid of heights don't do this. Take beehive up and loop around. Short hike but views and challenge are worth it.

Not as strenuous as what it seemed in many reviews. As long as you're physically fit and NOT acrophobic, it's a no brainer trail. All you have to do is to follow the rungs up (it's a one way street). It took us 1/2 hour to get to the top. The view is spectacular!

This trail is very strenuous and not fit for those who are afraid of heights and short walkways. There are parts to the trail that have metal railings that you have to use to climb up. There are also two small bridges. The views are very good though, especially of Sand Beach. Make sure to pack lots of liquids.

Since Precipice Trail was closed in early August when we visited Acadia, hiking Beehive became a must. Both kids (9 and 11 yr) and parents enjoyed it very much. As typical in Acadia, the trail is fairly short (about 1.5-2 hours round trip without considering the break at summit), and the view was stunning. My wife and I happened to... More

This is essentially one loop trail. You can choose the cliff route then down the easy way (the normal loop), or the easy way up and the same easy way down (Bowl Trail). Bowl trail splits off of Beehive on the way up. They both take about the same amount of time to complete since Beehive is up sheer cliffs.... More

Despite a fear of heights, my family and I hiked up Beehive. It was worth it. Beautiful views and such a sense of accomplishment . It didn't take too long, which was great for my kids ages 9, 11, and 13. It was pretty scary having to scale the rocks climbing on ladder rungs imbedded in the rock.
