This is a great hike short and technical at times. Some exposed cliff accent with iron rungs and latter steps. Not too bad but extremely busy. Trail can get congested so earlier the better. Maybe not the best for little kids or people with vertigo. But great trail hike with some awesome views !

We are a pretty active family and read many reviews of the bee hive. Our children (12,11,8,6)- can be adventurous. That being said we took beehive up, 2/4 froze. Became panicked, cried, fear took hold. After deliberation we decided we would attempt to go down---one ladder down we realized it was much harder to go down. The path has narrow... More

Do not attempt this hike if it is raining or windy. Definitely a better view on a clear day. Use caution with kids and those afraid of heights. Not pet friendly. I am scared of heights. I clutched to the rocks and tried to slow down my racing heart, but I am glad I did it! It was definitely the... More

My 2 teenage kids are thrill seekers and they love this trail. They love climbing on the boulders and iron rungs. Standing on the ledge with nothing to hold on to didn't bother them. It took us about an hour to finish this loop trail. Try to get there early so that you can park at the Sand beach parking... More

We especially enjoyed this hike. It's set in a loop, so two of us (one adult and an 11-year-old) did the steep section and met the other adult (who took the less-steep path) at the top -- we all arrived at almost exactly the same time. The views from the top were great. If you take the steep path, you'll... More

This is a relatively short and moderately difficult hike. There are ladders to climb that are built into the mountain. It is not for those afraid of heights. There are beautiful views from the top. It is more sketchy to hike down it, so I always take the bowl trail down and make a loop out of it.

The Beehive provides a great view of the Acadia coast. There are two ways to get there. Most people ascend from Sand Beach, which requires some difficult climbing at the top. However, you can also get there from Gorham Mountain Trail, which provides a much easier access. In addition, you can visit Gorham Mountain, one of my favorites, The Bowl... More

Short trail, but lots of fun. There are ladders and metal grate walkways to climb. Awesome views from the top, and you can take a detour to a cool mountain top pond for a swim. This trial is not for dogs, or those afraid of heights.

I'm giving this trail a five because the view is amazing. I was so thankful once we reached the top and could finally relax and take it all in. Going up was quite stressful and I was too afraid to look down on our way up. There is a sign at the start that says that this hike is not... More

You can get to the top via the iron rung route or via the backside as it is a loop trail. As you may have read, the iron rungs isnt for the faint of heart. Wear the right shoes, dont do it if conditions are wet, if you are carrying items make sure they are secured to your person backpack... More
