A magnificent place on the south coast of Greek island of Zakynthos, in the Ionian Sea, where seat turtles of the Caretta Caretta species nest. The beach is part of a natural reserve and no sea shipping is allowed there.
Somewhat hard to reach as the asphalt road ends some 2 km before you reach it and you have to endure a rather bumpy ride down a beautiful, though a little dangerous soil road.
Once there, however, get ready for a fantastic time on the sandy beach. Mind though: you are not allowed to lie down on the sand - there might be turtle nests nearby and this is a very endangered species. Nest are marked by small labeled pyramids, made from sticks. Watch your step and try not to walk too much near them.
There are sunbeds and umbrellas set up above the beach where you can enjoy the sun and the nature around without disturbing the turtle progeny. Presumably.
No water sports are allowed there, no loud music. There are several small tavernas and bar nearby with rather reasonably-priced food and drinks. Free parking is also available.
Children can play freely but please make sure they do not disturb the nests.
Do not really expect to see any turtles - they are cautious reptiles and come to the beach only at night to lay their eggs. Unfortunately, pollution and human activities in general had limited the number of the turtles and they have difficulty reporducing - only one or two of an eight-egg nest actually hatch and of those baby turtles just a really survive to adulthood.

This is a large beautiful, clean beach. Highly recomend it!!! Free parking is abailable and there is usually someone that's watching over the turtle nests and if you are lucky you might get to see one swimming next to you!

Waters warm and turqoise, careta's nests all over the beach, not too crowded. Get away from the bars and you 'll find beautiful caves. The road is only a bit difficult, but it is definitely worth going.

Reading reviews we expected a gem of a beach. The road to the beach was interesting, certainly doable with any car so don’t be discouraged.
Upon arrival you’re greeted by someone that will help you park, followed by someone who explains the importance of the beach and how renting their chair will help you protect the turtle nests.
Beach itself is disappointing, rocky and uncomfortable. It is not very clean and the water isn’t very bright either. Certainly not suited for young kids.
All in all it felt overly commercial for some rocks and some water.

Much less busy than many of the islands beaches, perhaps because the road down to it is pretty awful, plus badly sign posted, but once there it is glorious...warm perfectly clear water, good views and nice cafes and tavernas...but not many. Very relaxing.

The beach is worth the drive but be prepared. The road to get to this beach is sandy, steep and like most places, does not have guardrails. Take your time when getting to this location. However, the drive is worth it. The beach is not very busy and the owners of the restaurants/taverns, let you use their sun beds for free. We didn't see any hatching turtles when were there but we did see the nests. The walk along the beach and mountains is fantastic. I recommend this nesting beach compared to the other ones in the more touristy busy areas.

Nice place, water was so clear and nice to swim. Nice resturant there with nice food. It is just hard to get there, if you driving pay some attention as the road looks scary.

Definetly worth seeing

Great beach and fantastic surroundings in a peaceful location with a choice of three beach tavernas and many sunbeds in front of each one ...!

The drive to the beach is an experience on its own! Beautiful views to the sea can be enjoyed right from your car seat. You will pass beautiful olive groves too. The drive can be tricky and this was my first day driving after 5 year break! I managed it ok. The beach itself is a mixture of sand and rocks, it has couple of nice places to eat. We saw many people snorkelling. Probably not the best beach for families with kids.
