“Clear Blue Water”

The water color alone is worth the visit, clear as far down as you can see. Skip the beach (very rocky and rough surf), and go to the caves to go swimming. We went in the beginning of June, and while the water was a bit cool, it felt very nice after being in the sun. The caves are so majestic, and it is like swimming in a huge clear pool.

We saw the sign and started to walk...20 minutes, 30 minutes along the water. We surmise that the entire coastline is the “marine park”. Walk was pleasant.

Free admission. There is free parking (also used for the nearby Gerakas beach). Presents 2 aquariums with fish and 4 aquariums with small Loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta, of which Zante is home to the largest colony in Europe) with explanatory panels in English (1 turtle hatches out of 1000 eggs laid). Presence of toilets and showers.
