Came here during our day trip to Mt Tamborine - despite the heat we had fun fossicking for thunderbird eggs, and for a small extra fee they'd cut a couple of the better ones we found. We didn't do any other of the activities but...More

I did the tree top challenge with my 9 year old. It was very challenging for her but loved every second. The zip lines are her favourite.

My first visit to thunderbird park was really disappointing and difficult. I had driven a long way and a few circumstances made it unacceptable for me. I contacted the manager directly and explained all my disappointments. What I recieved in return was an extremely apologetic...More

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Regarding the shower tokens, these are no longer installed - they were removed over a year ago. Camping fees include unlimited showers and hot water :)

Not far from the rock shop to level one of the mine, maybe a 5 minute walk. It's also easy to find as their are signs to guide you. I didn't go up to other levels of the mine so don't know how much more walking is involved... More

Gold Coast 9 Days with 2 Children (0 Replies)
Hi, We are planning to visit Gold Coast in middle March and would like to seek advice from people here. There are 3 of us, 1 adult and 2 children (16 and 10). We don't intend to spend time on shopping and since we have already experienced whale-watching and swimming-with dolphin just last year in west Australia, we would also exclude them in this trip. Our planned itinerary is, Day 1, arrive Gold Coast at 8:30am, Paradise Country in the afternoon; Day 2, Sea World; Day 3,...More

Hi, generally, I would say that you do not need thermals. Please be aware that as you are from Singapore, you may feel differently. If you are intending on staying on the coast (Surfers, Broadbeach etc) each night, then thermals are not required. If you intend spending a night at Springbrook, and expect to spend more than five minutes moving between log-fire chalet and centrally heated restaurant, via heated vehicle, then possibly bring thermals.....but really, no. All of those activities...More

Advice of itinerary (7 Replies)
Hi, we are a family with young kids (4 y.o. girl and 9 y.o. boy) travelling free & easy to Gold Coast and this is the travel itinerary we have in mind. Please advise if we have missed out any place you would highly recommend or furnish us with any tips on our travel plans, including recommended restaurants. Day 1 (Friday) Arrive at airport at 8am --> Currumbin Wildlife Park Day 2 (Saturday) Carrara Market (morning), Harbour Town (afternoon) Day 3 (Sunday) Drive to Brisbane -->...More

Excellent plan. Have you considered one evening dinner/show at Outback Spectacular. Carrara markets are not as good as used to be. Also got some bad press recently for penalising stall holders who chose not to attempt to travel to and open during floods. Why not take a drive (1hr south on motorway but option of longer scenic Tweed coast or inland roads) to Byron Bay that day, see the lighthouse on the most easterly point of Australian mainland, a great walk, not too hard for children. You...More
