Socotra is the jewel of the Indian Ocean, an island belonging to Yemen off the coast of Somalia. From the Dragon's Blood trees on Mount Sand, to the caves at Halah, to the dolphin waters off the west coast, to the finding of the very rare and miniature Rock Frankincense tree it has it all to exit the wonder of discovery. The islanders speak a very ancient South Arabian dialect. In ancient times Frankincense from here, the Island of the Dioscuri, was very much prised by the Nabateans of Petra. The famous treasury building of Petra is dedicated to Castor and Pollux, the Dioscuri. Yemen mainland is not safe at present but Socotra is if you ever get a chance to travel there. My visit was in 2003.

Haven't seen a place better for snorkelling whether you are a beginner or expert, definitely don't miss, better to take your own equipment, but if you don't have or forgot, then they will supply you with one.
Worth taking your under water camera if you have.
You can spend the night their at their shelter, and if you are planning to spend any time day or night and want to order home made delicious food, let the guys their know in advance to prepare it for you.
Their fees is nothing compared to the fun you will have there.

the place is great for diving, we had a dive with Naseem, the dive master, a pro, and the dive site was WOW, we were between, giant groupers, a great variety of colorful fish, and schools of barracudas and black tip sharks! definitely recommended!

One of the best place in the island. Its not for swimming koz of the rocky beach but u still able to swim in it.
Also best place for snorkeling.
I recommend the local restaurant. They serve best rise, fresh fish in the island. But u should make reservation before luch time by 3 or 4 hours.
Good place for who seek adventure and also peace of mind.

Don't expect spectacular beach, because it is not. But after just few meters of stepping into the sea you will be astonished what is hidden underneath the sea. Around 80 different kinds of corals, amazing fish of all colours you can imagine, all sizes and shapes... Fantastic and breathtaking... Absolutely worth visiting and enjoying for at least half a day. Once you are in, it is hard to get out of the sea.
You can rent equipment for snorkeling on the spot and it is not costly. There are shelters on the beach that provide shadow.

We spent a few hours and had lunch on this beach.Had enough time to explore, took a long walk to the big rock, saw various sea creatures that can be spotted near the shore since the current is very strong and we didnt have a chance to snorkel further. But surprisingly there were big and colourful fishes swam just very close the beach that we can clearly saw them.We really enjoyed our time in Dihamri, but since it is pebbled beach you need to wear beach shoes to be comfortable.

Dihamri is located in the north-east edge of Socotra. It’s in a very short drive from the capital city of Hadibo, and next to the lovely Delisha beach, the sand dune of which is very well seen from Dihamri campsite.
Dihamri Marine Protected Area with its coral reefs full of various sea species is considered the best place in the island for diving and snorkeling. I can’t say those were the most fascinating corals I’ve ever seen in my life (maybe I didn’t get to the best part of it), but the fish diversity was impressive.
The diving/snorkeling centre in Dihamri is rather rustic. However, some basic lessons can be taken here, if needed. Mind that there are no medical and/or rescuing services here.
Even if you are not a professional diver, but just a keen enthusiast (either of diving, or snorkeling), do take your own equipment! The cheap plastic stuff available for rental in Dihamri will give you more torture than pleasure.
If you decide to swim, pay attention that the current can be very strong here at times. The beach in Dihamri is pebbled, not sandy, so you might want to wear swimming slippers to protect your feet. And beware of sharp stones in the waters.
Dihamri area is like nothing else in Socotra. Its scenic red rocks reigning above the harbour and the pebbled beach covered with quirky coral remnants make it breathtakingly beautiful! The red colours are intensified at sunset, making the entire area look surreal.
The corals were also used for decoration of the huts scattered on the beach. It is possible to stay there overnight.

This is a beautiful rocky beach. The hurricanes destroyed a lot of the corals that are to be found in large slabs on the shore
Within reach there are several coral conglomerates, not very colorful but with great colorful large fishes
In several spots, current can be pretty strong and if the waves are strong it may be difficult to get out of the water
Views from the beach are stunning

There is a great reef just offshore here. Walking inland from here, there are some wild rocks and arches on the peaks behind. The site has some structures providing shade for the heat of the day.

this was my first time undersea , it was fantastic thirty minutes to discover coloured fish and other sealife creatures.
services are not bad, part of the road is still under construction but its close to Hadibo and enjoyable.
