My trip to Socotra was totally perfect, we did a lot in the island starting from camping, trekking, caving, relaxing ... etc. If you are looking for a real tour experience ... pack your stuff and visit Socotra. The place is fabulous and each step on Socotra is an exploration. If plan to visit the island in the future do not skip the following places:
- Deisha Beach
- Di Hammri Marine protected area.
- Rosh Marine protected area.
- Hoq Cave
- Arher Beach
- Homhil Plateau
- Omak protected area.
- Sand dunes of Zahak
- Dixam Plateau
- Skand peak
- Wadi Dirhur
- Detwah Lagoon
- Shoab Beach

I have been travelling with friends but also as tour leader for groups always with Socotra Guide Travel and Tourism. We have always found the best services and care for the travellers' satisfaction. Great staff, good food but most of all programs and itineraries tailored on the requests of the groups.
I recommend to travel with Mohammed because, even though you may find his prices a little higher than some other agencies, it is registered at the Ministry of Tourism as official agency and can provide visas, domestic flights, accomodation, camping equipment and all that you need to spend a beautiful journey on one of the most incredible place on Earth.
Paying the right is also a good way to support the responsible tourism as all the local people working for this agency are well paid and satisfied.
Be careful of low costs estimate...

I think I've discovered why there is so little accurate information on Trip Advisor. I posted a review of Socotra, in the "Attractions in Aden--Socotra" section and it was up for a couple of days, but it has since disappeared. I received an email from Trip Advisor saying my review covered too many topics, and I should repost it separately as multiple reviews. However, I just read a review from "NewYorkTravelor" that included multiple topics, but didn't mention their tour company.

Here's the back story: Within a day of my review going live, I received an email from the owner of Socotra Eco Tours asking me to remove the review. I received the same email with a topic of "URGENT" one hour later. I opted not to remove the review because I think it's important that others make the decision about whether or not to go to Socotra with their eyes wide open. A few days later, I received an email with a bill saying Eco Tours had thought that they "could pay for your three days on behalf of you, but we can not give it to people who can not appreciate it."

In essence, we were being offered "hush money" to not speak the truth. I believe that it was Eco Tours who emailed Trip Advisor and asked them to remove the initial review, but I'm sure if it was a very positive review, such as the one I mentioned earlier, the review would still be up.

I tried to offer a balanced review and inform people about the potential pitfalls and rewards of Socotra, but apparently, that type of review is not welcome in the Trip Advisor site. In the future, I will not be seeking travel advice here.
