Passing by car on the coast road, I was intrigued by the sign. So I said to myself “I have to see it”.
Well it's worth it. It is immersed in the typical nature of the place: olive trees and red earth. The stone slabs that compose it look like sandstone on which it is still possible to see shell fossils today. I don't recommend coming here on purpose but if you are in the Fasano / Ostuni area then stop by

Facile da raggiungere in auto, il dolmen di Montalbano si trova nelle campagne di ulivi del Salento a pochi passi dal mare.
Accessibile 24 ore su 24 è un sito archeologico preistorico risalente al II Millennio A.C. età del bronzo.
Merita di essere visitato almeno una volta e nell'aerea circostante è possibile seguire i numerosi sentieri svolgendo attività di trekking o una passeggiata in bicicletta, con il caldo del sole del Salento, gli cinguettio degli uccelli e il profumo degli alberi secolari di ulivo e alberi di fico. Nella giusta stagione perchè non raccogliere un frutto e gustarlo all'ombra di un albero?

Una struttura di quasi 4000 anni fa. Un'atmosfera incredibile, soprattutto al tramonto.
I suoni della natura e la nuda pietra manipolata dall'uomo.
Ingresso gratuito. Basta inserire la location e Google vi condurrà direttamente sul posto. Nelle immediate vicinanze è possibile ammirare la lama con i suoi casolari, nonché una camera ipogea nascosta da una selvaggia vegetazione mediterranea.

antico di 4000 anni probabilmente costruito dalle popolazioni provenienti dall'impero assiro o ittito, in un bellissimo giardino di ulivi millenari nel silenzio e nella quiete della campagna di Montalbano
poche indicazioni per raggiungere questa imponente costruzione di 400 anni fa, peccato, andrebbe valorizzata maggiormente.

Il posto è molto suggestivo, tra ulivi secolari e gigantesche piante di capperi. Vicino c'è una casupola: da visitare. Nel campo vicino si possono trovare delle grotte che sono sicuramente servite da abitazione.

passeggiare in puglia tra gli ulivi secolari è un'esperienza meditativa. il caldo, gli uccellini al mattino o le cicale a mezzoggiorno rendono questo trekking molto più che una semplice visita storica

Dopo alcuni decenni torno a visitare questo luogo ma con uno spirito molto diverso. La prima volta, in gita con la scuola, ero inconsapevole dell’importanza del luogo; in tutti questi anni ricordavo solo che ci avevano portato in mezzo ad un uliveto a vedere tre pietre, una appoggiata all’altra. Oggi, passando casualmente nei pressi del sito, mi è tornata in mente la gita e preso da entusiasmo ho voluto portarci la mia famiglia. Sito importante a livello storico ma vi consiglio di andare solo se siete nei paraggi (basta una visita di pochi minuti) oppure se siete dei veri appassionati di storia e preistoria. Il luogo è sempre visitabile e non è a pagamento. Potete leggere le informazioni in loco, oppure cercarle su internet. N.B. I miei figli adolescenti non hanno apprezzato, come del resto ho fatto io più o meno alla loro età .
