climb is worth every step
Apr 2019
This chapel set on an a tall rock in the center of Le Puy, is a gorgeous example of early medieval architecture. In addition, the view from the top is spectacular. The 268 steps are interspersed with stopping points with benches, provide a comfortable climb to the chapel. Even when hot outside, the chapel itself is cool inside.

Another must-do in Le Puy
Sep 2019
It's a little bit of work to climb the stairs to the top, but the wonderful views of Le Puy and its surroundings, and the beautiful little chapel at the top, make the effort worthwhile. There is also some information on the history and geology of Le Puy in the rooms at the base of the plug which help explain things.

This is just a wonderful place to visit and learn about the past. Stain Glass is still made onsite and you can see the whole process

Quite a long climb but doable and WELL worth it.The view is fabulous,I was lucky to be alone, but the tranquility of this tiny eleven hundred year old chapel is palpable.

A must see. The view from the top makes it all worthwhile. You need to take it slow if you are not fit. Don't forget to take water with you.

Worth the hike

Wow! So beautiful. We were all alone at the top. It’s beautiful and peaceful. There was some singing in a backroom, it was very fitting.

It’s much easier to walk up than it looks!

In any other place would be really worthwhile, but overshadowed by Statue Notre Dame. Long climb to chapel and good views from around the base.

Climbed up here with half an hour to kill and I'm so glad I did. Beautiful views across the town and the chapel is utterly beautiful. The best €3 I've spent.

A wonderful place to visit.

Just visited here again some years after a previous visit. It is an amazing place and you have to wonder how they built it.

As you drive into or around Le Puy En Velay you see this in the distance and it is stunning. Admission is still 3.50 Euro which is fine for such a grand site.

There are a number of steps to climb but many rest spots also.

The little Chapel is lovely and charming and features stunning views of the area around it including across to the Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Puy and the iron statue of Notre-Dame de France (The Virgin Mary). It is a modest place built on the astounding volcanic plug it sits on.

I have been to many lovely spots in France but this is still a favourite.

A lovely little chapel after a good climb of over 286 steps. Gives fantastic views back over the city.
