About
Deddington Farmers' Market is one of the most successful and well loved farmers' markets in the county. It has 40+ carefully selected food producers selling foods that have been grown or produced within 30 miles of the pretty ironstone village. The stallholders are happy to talk to you about the provenance of their foods and answer your questions. There is also a craft market in the church on market days. The market is held on the 4th Saturday of the month.

I have experienced the market twice on my stays in Oxford. Really a joy to walk around, look around at what farmers offer of food and handcraft. This is market for locals to buy fresh foods and diary products, honey and so on. I definitely have enjoyed it both the times.

This is a great local market. Clearly the stalls are local producers who come back to the market time and time again. It has a good range of local meats, veg, drinks and crafts. Mainly the food aspect is in the village square. There is a great mixture of food ready to eat and fresh produce. The inside of the Church, just off the square is the location for locals to trade crafts. At the core of the market is the concept of local producers. This is not a market with clothing, tacky luggage or CDs. This is focussed on local producers. The artisan bread is worth a loaf and similarly the meat supplied is great. I firmly believe in supporting local producers and this is a good way to do it. This does come with a cost. Obviously you can shop far more cheaply at the supermarkets. But as the occasional treat the market provides great produce.

Deddington Farmer's Market is a gem! We love our Saturday amble (every fourth Saturday of the month!) around the stalls and into the church for crafty bits and bobs. The fruit and veg is always great quality and it's great to stumble across some new and unique produce. The children (and husband!) are huge fans of the fresh pizza being made by Two Fat Gits and an Oven - we always grab a slice for the walk home...before then breaking into the cheese, amazing local saucisson and fresh sour dough. Basically, this amazing market lets us thoroughly spoil ourselves, gastronomically, for a weekend, every month...I won't even mention the local gin... :)

Good value lamb. cheese and rye bread from local farmers. Avoid the £7 handmade burger with cheap cheese and no onions. Overpriced, salty and lacking in the wow required for this price point.

I enjoy visiting farmers markets and there are some good ones around in this region. Deddington farmers market was probably the best in the area some years ago, however, most of the best stalls have left for other markets and it now remains a shadow of what it used to be.

Hello Grenvillegill
Thank you for your comment. I am sorry you feel this to be the case - our 2k visitors on Saturday seemed quite happy with the 40+ stalls, many of which sold out by 11am. I have no idea which stallholders you believe have deserted us for other markets and think your comment does not do credit to the quality produce that is on offer at Deddington. Hey ho, we are all entitled to our opinion. Best wishes

Deddington Farmers Market is a great place to shop, with a wide variety of stalls selling some amazing produce, as well as other goods. You have to try the Greek food, it's amazing! There are also stalls in the Church.

Hello Karen G
Many thanks for taking time out to review our market. We are delighted that you enjoyed it. I can only agree about Martha's kitchen, but also have to flag up Oxford Dehli's currries and their amazing flat breads. There is a huge range of foods and produce on offer all made, grown or produced by the stallholders, within 30 miles of Deddington, who are there to answer any questions you may have.
We hope you will come again to our monthly market.
cheers

The market has been going some 14 years now and is ever more popular! Plenty of genuine local or relevant produce carefully sourced by a team of local volunteers!
It's a lovely vista in a superb traditional village setting and makes for a great social morning, even if you only fancy a
wander and a coffee!!
Come and visit, you'll love it!

Thanks JC Senior - we try hard to ensure our stallholders' produce is local where possible and even taste test most of the stallholders wares before we agree a place at the market. Quality on all counts is what we want...which enables us to give plenty of money back to the community.

Excellent farmers market, loads of good produce, The Meat Joint is superb. Fresh fish from the fish man, cheeses trout, venison and sometimes musical entertainment. Only downside is people who insist on bringing their dogs! Don't put a basket with meat on the ground!

I would advise you to get here early. There isn’t much parking as the market is in the Market Place but the stalls are well stocked. I particularly like Knife & Fork Bakery Uk as I understand they make from natural ingredients and use flour milled by them. I bought, gluten free breads including sourdough, rosemary & garlic focaccia, farmhouse with a seeded top as well as gluten free brownies and marshmallows - all of which were to die for. My daughter is Coeliac and she announced that this was the most wonderful and tasty gf bread she had ever eaten. I’m sure other coeliac’s would agree that shop bought bread is completely different to Knife & Forks and not not in a good way ! The queue for Knife & Fork was extremely long (other coeliacs have obviously cottoned on) but I managed to get sourdough, focaccia and marshmallows so I was very pleased. I would definitely recommend buying from Knife & Fork Bakery Uk.
