We booked this trip after it was recommended to me by a workmate and we're glad we did go! We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the farm. We were given a waterproof onesie, helmet and gloves. We were taken to our horses and spent a bit of time getting to know them. We were then taken... More

As an equine enthusiast and international judge, breeder and competitor of gaited horses, I could not have been more excited to meet the Icelandic horses at Laxnes Farm. Recommended through our guide at Iceland Discovery, we were more than thrilled with our experience. The stables were clean, the staff knowledgeable and friendly and the horses are all sociable, well cared... More

My wife and I signed up to ride Icelandic horses after our whale watching boat trip was cancelled. Laxnes is a family run operation. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. They are great about matching you up with a horse that matches your experience level. The ride was nice and very scenic. I would recommend doing this if you come... More

We had a lovely spring like day for our two hour ride. I don't have a lot of riding experience so I found the faster gait difficult to adjust to but it did not put a damper on the day. The staff are all extremely helpful and are attentive to the riders and the horses. Our group had novice and... More

I was dreading getting on a horse ! But was forced in to this by my gf. Great experience all around. Owners / family and Guides were nice and such friendly people. Horses were well behaved and looked after. The tour company messed up our booking and double booked us on to two events so we had to squeeze in... More

I love this experience of trekking around the snowy mountains on local horses. Did this as a trip on the last day and really enjoyed it.

Loved the Icelandic horses so had to meet them up close and personal. People at this farm are nice but you need to know your way around horses yourself. It's English style riding so the saddles are smaller than Western and don't have a saddle horn, but actually I think they are more comfortable once you are used to them.... More

"bunny suits"??? hehehe best description of the winter overalls so far :) Yes, they do need some getting used to but the new generation of suits are both warm and water/wind proof so they do their job. There are two ways to safely get off a horse but the main reason we ask riders to take both feet out is... More

The event started with a very punctual pickup from our hotel by Laxnes' Farm Owner. A warm, funny and charming Icelandic man who drove us and other guests the 15 minutes out of town to the stables. This was in fact my second time to Laxnes. The air outside was -1°C but the sun beat down from a cloudless blue... More

We came here after a local recommended it to us to see the icelandic horses, since we were doing a lot of day tours that couldn't just stop on the side of the road for us to see them. The owners were so sweet, and it seems to be one of the most popular horse locations in Iceland, with photos... More
