A proper Cornish country walk of about 4km
Dec 2019
Going from Cotehele (with a tea shop, medieval manor and gardens ), to the old market garden quayside and quaint steep-sided valley that nestles Calstock, this stroll starts with a steep descent through ancient moss-covered beech and oak woods. It then takes the lower road past the boatyard and picturesque terrace houses. Of curious note are the doors in the high retaining walls of Well Street, where long ago the locals carried water to yard and table.

Great December walk , 2 hours well spent
Dec 2019 • Couples
We started the walk with a hot drink at Cotehele House , and a viewing of the beautiful Christmas Garland ... we then followed the app directions from in front of the House - the instructions were very clear , the local pieces of information provided throughout the walk added additional interest to the stunning views ... our little Jack Russell throughly enjoyed the woodland parts of the walk , there were only a couple of short road sections where she needed to be on the lead, and no areas of farmland, so she had 2 hours of total freedom . Daffodils were just beginning to bloom and a beautiful gold-crest came to say hello ... we stopped off for an ice cream and coffee in Calstock to end the day ... we would recommend this walk if you have a spare couple of hours and will be making it one of our regular ‘go-to’ trips .

Beautiful and peaceful walk
Sep 2019
This is a nice walk to do. Walking along the River Tamar with our dog Pheobe (who went in the river and got all muddy) We had planned lunch, so did not complete the full walk, but made a detour to a very nice pub call the Tamar Inn. We had a great lunch there.

This lovely 5.9 walk starts at the delightful National Trust property the tudor mansion Cotehele, (well worth a look around if you have the time). it takes you through the Danesconbe Valley to Calstock Church and along the River Tamar to the lovely Viaduct of Calstock. Lots of interesting history to see on the way.
