Aizanoi is located about 55km from Kutahya in the small villiage of Cavdarhisar. The temple of Zeus is situated on a small hill in the village and is really an impressive sight. The temple is known as one of the best preserved Roman buildings in Anatolia. You can climb down some stairs into the body of the temple and on... More

The world’s best preserved Temple of Zeus is in Aizonai Antique City. It is truly mysterious!!! You will see the best preserved Temple of Zeus, an amphitheater with a capacity of 20,000 people, a stadium, the world’s first stock exchange, two Roman baths, a colonnaded avenue and two Roman bridges. It is also called as Second Ephesus.

Simply amazing! The massive structure and elaborate decoration of Zeus temple impressed me most. The theatre and stadium remains largely intact in spite of numerous earth quakes. Kids loved it so much. The more I travel throughout this country the more I feel part of it!

Aizanoi is a must see location for lovers of antiquity and history. The unlikelihood of its location and the surrounding village of Cavdarhisar keeps the traveller puzzled. However don't be fooled Aizanoi is a gem not to miss. For starters, the temple Zeus chilled me at it's every instance I saw it. The vault beneath the temple reminded me of... More
