Dotonbori is a never-ending lifetime place, provide you 24 Hours attraction (food, night club, market, etc). Many don Quijote located in this area for 24 hours.

But unfortunately, caused by 24 Hours activities made this area became dirty of trash.

For Muslims visitors, there is one place nearby for mushola/prayer room at Daimaru building (use Gmap to find). And also, be careful for Muslim visitors when you use Gmap to find Halal restaurant, several restaurants inform by Gmaps are not halal restaurants. Please only eat at restaurant has halal logo.

This is the heart of the shopping district and you literally meet all of the tourists, both domestic and foreign, here. There are hence loads of shopping options from cosmetics to clothings to groceries, toys, electronic goods many more.
If you’re not the city type of person, better avoid the crowd and go elsewhere that suit your taste/needs.

What an experience, full of colour, sound and people. Full of restaurants, cafes and arcade games. Just prepare to be confronted but also entertained by this amazing place.

You can reach there via M20 Namba Station and exit 14. There is a huge duty free building (with ferri wheels - I think it's the Don Don Donki store) where you can basically buy a lot of food, drinks and other stuffs home. This prices is the cheapest among other duty free shops so make sure you accumulate 5400 yen to enjoy duty free deductions. There is also a famous ramen shop near to the duty free shop with long queues. The whole street offers a variety of food for tourists.

One of the must go places in Osaka.

Agree with comment below : " prices vary dramatically and some "bars/ restaurants" offer more than just food and drink." a lot people stand at outside of bar or some special shop ...

We went to Dotonbori by taxi from our hotel and it cost reasonable amount....the night life of tourists of Osaka. Like those of Korea, Taiwan etc this is a night food court with lots of people. The landmark is a big CRAB sign.....crowds of foreigners lining up the street for some local finger food, many restaurant and shops lining the street, the Ramen store was filled with hungry customers waiting, surprisingly there was not many Ramen shop. We finally went into one Crab restaurant (not the one at the entrance), and discovered that they sell only crabs ( in different cooking), and it is quite pricy to eat the not so meaty ' snow crab'!

Dotombori is a must see if you travel to Osaka. It is a very large area but easily accessible by walking. Huge moving crab signs and colourful neons prevail. The shops and restaurants can not be counted. Be aware that this area also caters for red light area patrons so it is best to be careful where you choose to enjoy drinks etc. Most restaurants are very good but you will pay more in this area particularly if you order steak which is quite expensive. I have found it better to try restaurants just outside this area which offer good value and are less touristy. All in all, it is good to visit and don't forget to bring your camera.
