It is so much fun to watch your ice cream being made, the staff is so clever. It is amazing that the ice cream holds it's shape too, and let me tell you this - it is THE coldest ice cream that we have ever eaten. The flavours are delicious and it is great value for money. Cannot wait to go back again when we are able to travel.

My wife and I came here as a last-ditch attempt to find some Mother (Earthbound) merchandise as we had been largely unsuccessful (we eventually did find a Mother 1 gacha machine at the Rox mall in Asakusa, unbelievably). No matter what anime, video game etc. thing you like, if it was ever even remotely popular in Japan you will find something for it here (there were Mother 1/2 gacha toys for sale in a store that seemed to sell nothing but gacha toys? This was also the first time I truly appreciated how serious Gachapon are in Japan, because the place was absolutely heaving and I saw a few locals spend about £200 on four little figurines for a series I didn’t recognise).
Some of the items are expensive, but overall Nakano Broadway is a really interesting place to visit. We didn’t know what a lot of the things were but it’s a fascinating little spot to see some authentic Japanese popular culture. There was also some pretty good street food in amongst the manga and anime stuff.

The place is famous on the animation, cosplay, comic and video/camera.
You can see many shops selling comic books, cosplay accessories, video, camera and the accessories.

the reason i would explore this area is the Mandarake shop at 2nd floor of Nakano Broadway building where the only place in Tokyo you could find a comprehensive collections of Transformers toys from G1 to the current ones, new or used.
besides that there are plenty more of other Japanese toys too.
a must visit for toy lovers.

Been to akihabara and liked what you see? Then you have to visit Nakano Broadway. Old style shopping mall with a couple of floors dedicated to all your otaku needs. Prices seemed a tiny bit cheaper than akihabara but like there you must shop around and compare to save. One particular item I got varied by 3000 yen between shops. Definitely not as touristy and crowded as akihabara but also not as big. Surrounding area also has a multitude of places to eat drink and shop. Also super close to the station and easy to get there. Don't forget not much opens early in the morning so don't head out early expecting all shops to be open.

Akihabara is top of the list for any anime / manga fan but Nakano Broadway is a hidden, lesser known gem. The centre is quite like you'd see in many market towns around the UK, lots of independent or lower cost shops rather than big shiny chain stores. It has more of a "local" feel to it. There's plenty of fruit / veg, & general goods stores on the lower floors. As you go up to the various higher levels though there's loads of stores dedicated to collectables. Mandarake in particular have a heavy presence here but there's a large number of small independent stores. Some of them are absolutely jam packed with goods, to the point where you can barely turn around as you go down some of the aisles. You often have to back out of an aisle to let someone get past you.
As well as manga / anime collectables i found this a much better place than Akihabara to seek out classic collectables from my western childhood (vintage Star wars, Ghostbusters, Gremlins toys etc) There were plenty of shows / toys i'd forgotten even existed!
It's well worth putting aside a good amount of time to explore this place properly, especially if you're looking for a particular item or just want to seek out the best bargains.

Akihabara gets all the attention for its size and flashiness, but serious otakus and collectors of the more arcane paraphernalia know that the warren of levels in Nakano Broadway is the place to go to.
You will find all the popular otaku cultural items and obsessions in Akiba, but Nakano Broadway is the quieter and much more culturally interesting haven for geeks and casual tourists alike. Animation cels, old posters, figurines, train-related items, cosy maid cafes, and everything in between line the sometimes disorienting levels of this mall.
You can spend many pleasant hours wandering through the building, and be tempted numerous times into buying trinkets or objets d'art that have not much practical value, but will give you immense pleasure just to own. Prices range from below 100yen to almost priceless values, so you'll be sure to see something you can afford or wish you could.
Nakano Broadway is easily accessible from Nakano Station, and you only have to walk through Nakano Sunmall, which itself is a pleasant little mall full of eateries and shops.

Being from Hong Kong, my review here may be a bit biased. This shopping complex has a lot of shops selling collector type items - comics, figurines, watches and clothes. A lot of the stuff looked dusty and junky while prices were not cheap either. For me, this just wasn't the Japan I came to see. Others may find their treasures here. There are too many places in Hong Kong for this kind of stuff - Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po, Causeway Bay to name a few. Both my kids aged 8 and 12 could not find what they were looking for.

Nakano Broadway is a must see for any lover of video games, manga, anime, tcg's and collectables! This place was incredible! Comparing Nakano Broadway to Akihabara, Akihabara has the neon lights and bustling nightlife and hundreds of stores/buildings, whereas Nakano is far more convenient for finding hidden gems in the one building. Found some amazing items: Sailor Moon, Evangelion, Pokemon, DBZ, Yokai Watch, Card Captor Sakura etc. Definitely worth the visit.
GETTING THERE: Take the Chuo main line and get off at the Nakano station. Fairly sure we took the North exit, head straight through the main shopping drag and you'll come across the big Nakano Broadway sign.

Hi from Greece
I visit Tokyo, end of April 2019 (Easter period) and one of my dream is place like this. I collecti Anime Figures from eBay until today, so hope to find cheap and better quality in Nakano. This place you show, have second hand figures ? Only figures i want...
Also if you know, there is some festival or show with Anime cosplay in this period (24-30 April) somewhere in Tokyo?
Thank you !

Most shops do only sell second hand figures. I’ve seen a few with ‘new’ figures, but they are ones mostly won from arcade machines and then sold to the shops.

I have been looking for life size statues in Tokyo and I’ve been sent to Nakano Broadway but could just find one Kinnikuman. Are there any other places around Tokyo where I could find a life size replica (like a sideshow or oxmox statue)?

I'm visiting both Akihabara and Nakano Broadway, and I really want to buy anime merch, so roughy how much should I bring (in yen), considering that I'm sort of a major shopaholic...?

It really depends on your wish list and how much you can budget for your anime addiction. You may find a wonderland of anime choices at both destinations. I can say from my experience that I was able to visit Nakano Broadway twice on my trip, so the first time I bought 8 dolls that I was super happy with (I'm a doll freak) and left some money for the next few days' sightseeing, eating and souvenir shopping, but by the last day I decided I didn't need to spend more on souvenirs and went back and got 5 more dolls that had caught my eye. I must have spent about 50,000 yen the first day and about 20,000 more when I went back.
