Did not visit the exhibition, only visited the museum shop, they are selling Munch-related exhibition items. The queue to see the exhibition was super long! Arrive there early!

The "museum hill" in Tokyo is a real experience in itself--the place is mobbed on a holiday (which is when we were there). By all means, take a cab there/back because the subway is hopelessly packed--so full it was actually funny (in a sad sort...More

This is in Ueno Park and close to Ueno Zoo. Most of its collection was moved to Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo in Kiba Park. It might be right to call it an art center, which leases its rooms or galleries to art groups or...More

My wife and I visited the Art Museum to see local artists work and found a Group Show of Contemporary Artists. This exhibition was divided up into rooms from the prizewinners, the runners up, the hard workers who got hung and didn't get a prize,...More

On a week-long visit to Tokyo and came here specifically to visit the Pushkin museum exhibit. Apart from that, the other exhibits seemed inaccessible. Hard to figure out if there is a permanent collection. Nevertheless, I went to the Muse Restaurant for lunch and thoroughly...More

Very high quality works by the famous (Gauguin, Cezanne, Renoir, Sisley, Derain) and the not so famous (Robert), including three or four excellent Monets. I had only one hour for the sixty paintings including the decent 35 minute audioguide and I could have enjoyed another...More

Carefully curated, comprehensive (almost too much so), informative. The light, colour and subject matters of the Breughel dynasty masters are more than refreshing. Before the era of cameras, their works capture history faithfully, and yet elevate artistically. Out of place in Japan, but like other...More

I went with my elementary school kids. It was really crowded but my kids enjoyed more than I did. The machine for English explanation of the painting was perfect. Looking forward to the next exhibition. No credit card and no ATM around. I had to...More

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
