Neighborhood: Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.

Shinjuku Southern Terraces offers some greenery and a relaxing respite from the busy metropolis. It’s special romantic around Christmas and New Year, when there is illumination in the trees of the park. It also has cafes, restaurants, and shops, and a few steps of the world’s busiest station,
although it’s on the quieter side of the station.

A good place to walk by and at Christmas time, their Christmas trees and lighting are wonderful, and you will be attracted by their surroundings.

After years of construction - this place is NOW open! this building is BEAUTIFUL!!
Bus interchange, parking, shopping, food!!
it is connected to the Shinjuku Station.
it is a place to cross instead of using the original foot bridge facing Tokyu Hands.
this place is REALLY AMAZING - worth the hidden face for years!

This walk way (free of traffic) was on the way to my hotel. A few shops and restaurants of good quality. Easy access to the Shinjuku Station and many other eateries and shops adjacent to that. It never seemed crowded and is beautifully lit up at night.

Beautiful light illumination decoration. Nice place to visit. There is a shake shack burger joint near it.

this is the clean side of shinjuku, more "chainy" then the other side, but great for shopping and coffee

The adjacent entrance to Shinjuku Station and Southern Terrace provide a modern, more western experience - familiar style coffees are available at Starbucks for example. Stairs and bridges connect Southern Terrace to a variety of destinations as well, making it a convenient meeting place.
