About
This studio offers the experience of wearing the armor worn by Japanese samurai in the 16th century in Tokyo. Our full-time staff will help you put on the armor made in the same way as it was made in the 16th century. We will also explain about the Samurai culture of the time. All the armor in the studio is made in Japan. The studio also has swords, spears, and other weapons available for photo shoots. Professionals who are well versed in samurai history and culture will guide you about SAMURAI and about swords. We also offer plans for sword lessons and swordsmanship practice. The photos taken will be given to you as printed photos and as data. If you wish, we can print them on canvas or mugs and give them to you on the day. The studio is reserved for each couple, so reservations are always required. Enjoy SAMURAI with us without worrying about the eyes of other customers.

Neighborhood: Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.

I was looking to have an immersive Samurai experience. And boy did I found a fantastic place. From the start communication was prompt and timely. The place is a little out of the way. Google map to the rescue.
But what makes this place unique and great are the staff. From sensei Tateki Matsuura, who took the time to go over sword handling and the director Taro Nakamura who made me look good and went over the history and meaning of the different armor. They were all very pleasant and great to work with. Love the people and the pics came out great.
Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to create a great experience and something to take back and remember Japan.

Amazing experience and amazing staff. The quality of the armor is fantastic!
A very special experience if you are into japanese traditional culture, and even more if you are interested in samurais. They explain you the different parts of the armor and teach you basic katana movements.
We had a great time and we strongly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tokyo!

Best samurai experience in town. A lot of weapon to choose for your photo session from swords, spears, to guns and bow. The staffs are so friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Most lively photo session ive ever had.

Editting doesnt take long at all, you get the result as soon as you finish changing. The end result is astonishing!

Definitely recommend this experience especially if youre also interested in samurai culture and history.

Visited with our two small children (5 and 3 year old who also participated). Like others, we had a wonderful experience that is different from the standard kimono one, and it didnt omit children. Photography level was professional and the staff members were highly knowledgeable about the armor and explained the history as well. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and very highly recommend this studio! Thank you again!

Definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Japan. You get to pick which armor you want to wear for the duration of your time there. They suit you up and explain to you why samurai wear and do what they do. So while you’re having fun you’re also getting a history lesson on the subject. They take a bunch of pictures in certain poses and compile a movie for you. Depending on which package you choose you can get coffee cups, posters, coasters, and other stuff with your pictures on it. It’s a little pricey but it’s definitely worth it as it’s an experience I’ll always remember. If you’re in Tokyo go check this place out.

I randomly saw an episode of Huang's World in Tokyo and saw that Eddie Huang went to a samurai photo studio were he took amazing pictures dressed as a samurai. I knew after watching the show that the next time my fiancé and I were in Tokyo, we were doing this. So flashback to a couple of weeks ago when we decided to go to Tokyo for a few days (Christmas has delayed me posting my review). I sent an email on the website requesting an appointment on a Saturday afternoon. Very quickly I received a response that there was availability and we were all set. My fiancé hopped on the subway and made our way to Samurai Sengoku Photo Studio. This studio is located on a quiet street and we walked right past it on our first attempt. After looking at the picture of the building on Google Maps, we backtracked and realized we walked right past it. We got on the elevator (smallest elevator I've ever been in!!) and made our way to the third floor. We were very politely greeted and ushered in where we spent the next 2.5 hours have some of the most fun we have ever had. I am very grateful to the Samurai Sengoku Photo Studio staff for their kindness and hospitality. My fiancé and I are not small people, so we were a little worried that the samurai outfits would fit, but they made it work. So if you're worried about that, don't be. They will make an outfit work for you. We had so much fun learning about the samurais and seeing how the photographer worked his magic to make us look great. There's no doubt that I have a really hard time trying to be serious (I always laugh because I'm a happy person), but they still got some great shots. I am now known affectionately in my family as "The Happy Samurai". My fiancé is a stuntman so you can imagine that his photos are badass. If you are looking for an extraordinary out-of-the box experience while visiting Tokyo, I HIGHLY recommend this experience. My coffee mug and tote bag are very well admired and used with pride. Thank you Junko and Samurai Sengoku Photo Studio for a wonderful experience.

At first I was a bit shy but the the staff are really friendly, patient and helped me overcome my nerves for my first Photoshoot.

The final pictures came out amazing and wearing the armour felt great.
We made a 90 second movie, which one of my friends has stated is better than Alien Covenant.

I can only speak a little bit of Japanese and was a little worried about the language barrier but Taro and Junko were extremely welcoming and helpful which made the photoshoot a breeze!
It was extremely fun to get to try on the Samurai armor. The armor itself was very detailed and felt authentic. Taro explained all the functions of the armor and how it would have been used in feudal times which was really cool! He also was very informative and helpful when it came to posing for the photos. The pictures themselves turned out great and is are my favorite souvenirs of my trip.
The whole experience felt very professional and customized to my needs. It was an absolute blast to pose in the armor and Taro and Junko were excellent hosts and really made it a great experience. I would absolutely recommend visiting Sengoku Photo Studio Samurai to anyone visiting Tokyo!
