The area

Address
Neighborhood: Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.

I was basically here for the Godzilla store on the main floor.
But there is quite a few stores and vendors in this building, even a movie theater.

It is around a seven to ten minute walk from Shinjuku Station, east exit heading towards Tower Records. If you have wifi on your phone, use Google Maps and type in Godzilla Store and it will bring you to the right building.

If you're a Godzilla fan, like I am, then you'll have a blast checking out all the merchandise. Again there are plenty of other vendors/ stores to shop from and save your bill. If you spend over $100, then you'll get the tax credit for tourists. Tax Free kiosk is on the main floor as well. You'll get your 8% back on your purchases.

I had a great time just looking around and doing some shopping.

Originally we visited Marui Annex to find a particular store, but it turns out the store has closed down and Surugaya now occupies an entire floor! It's one of the better Surugaya stores I visited while in Japan, they had a really big discount section (all items ¥100 to ¥300 each).

The rest of the mall is really nice, not too busy at all. The staff at the Tax Refund counter speak perfect English and were super helpful and fast!

There's a large selection of Lolita clothing stores (such as Angelivlc Pretty), a Doctor Martens shoe store and some alternative clothing too. However if you're looking to buy, be aware the prices are quite high due to the unique designs and brand names.

The whole mall doesn't open until 11am however. So if you arrive early, be prepared to wait out front until the doors are opened.

A surprising find was the Namco lottery corner where they had a large My Hero Academia section of lottery and merchandise for sale.

We also noticed signs saying a new Evangelion store is due to open really soon!
