Address
Neighborhood: Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.

A place to throw away 500 yen to look at grass
Jun 2021
I went expecting to see flowers. I saw manicured grass and stagnate pools of water for mosquitos while walking through a mostly empty and unadorned wood. If you never saw a park before, have fetishized sitting on grass, or just have a 500 yen coin you want to throw away before inflation renders such money obsolete, this is the place for you.

Regarding the floral sites: all i saw were sickly-looking rose bushes and common variety cres in bloom. The fact they charge 500 yen to enter is an absurd joke when you can enter imperial gardens and other parks in tokyo for free.

Good Park
Jan 2020 • Solo
Good park in Shinjuku. I was here in winter and the tree branches had no leaves. It was haunting looking through them at the skyscrapers. Well worth a visit if you want to escape the hustle and bustle.

delightful

This place summarizes Tokyo: you step back and suddenly all is quiet and tranquil. The same goes for so called 'back streets'. I have no idea how they do it over there, but it works. Beautiful place to sit down at the bench, listen to crazy birds, relax and rest before doing your tourist thing again.

Nice neighborhood park
Sep 2019
I enjoyed walking through the park early in the morning. While it was the heat of summer, August, and not much was in bloom, it was pretty nonetheless. I also enjoyed visiting the shrine at Juniso Kumajo Jinja which is next to the park.

Nice park and very lively - during the summer they have small concerts. On Sundays they have a flea market which you can wonder around and pick up good staff - but all of it second hand!! Nice park - great place to chill from the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku

Beautiful Park and Welcome Green Space
Apr 2019 • Couples
The Park was chock full of people when we visited -- it was peak cherry blossom viewing season. The trees and walkways led to a more active area with other plantings and a waterfall.

Lovely oasis

A little oasis of peace, watching seniors dancing of an evening or joggers going round and round (Parklife...)
Spot the terrapins in the water feature and the statues before admiring the shrine on the border.

It is a park representing Shinjuku 新宿を代表する公園です
Jan 2019 • Solo
It is a place where I was born and raised. Before this park was made it was a big water purification plant. And around it was a dense forest area where you would be careful not to get close to it because of the moss. There was a spa town on the other side of the central park. There was a vibrancy like a local spa town. It is a very nostalgic place.
