The area

Neighborhood: Yotsuya / Iidabashi
Yotsuya and Iidabashi are areas that developed around the outer moat of the Imperial palace. Nearby in Kagurazaka, there is an old red-light district with a photogenic feel evocative of the ambiance of old Tokyo. Narrow paths with stone paving remain to this day, and there are long-standing restaurants with geishas and quaint old cafes in townhouse buildings.

What a lovely experience! The lthree adies were very cute and very welcoming right from the beginning. The ambience was cute and they spoke very good English. They explained the history behind the ingredients and went through each step carefully. There were 7 of us altogether. Would be nice to do as a couple. The place was easy to find. It cost about 7000Yen. Which was worth it. 3 hours later and very full tummies. Don't go hungry you'll have to wait until it's all done before you get to eat it.

We did the Kaiseki cooking class and absolutely loved it. Everything is so well organised and neat and clean. The two teachers compliment each other very well. And the 7 dishes you learn to prepare, are tasty and quite easy to prepare, without needing tons of ingredients.

I can very much recommend this cooking class.

We attended an udon making lesson with our two teenage children. The tutors were very friendly and professional. To our pleasant surprise, apart from making udon from scratch, we were taught to make a number of side dishes. We got to taste the food that we made at the end of the lesson. The udon was far superior to the shop bought ones. You can also buy the necessary equipment to make the recipes again at home. Very enjoyable for the whole family.

This was a fantastic experience. We were 2 couples from California. The total class was 8 people from various places around the world. Our instructors were fantastic. The food we made was super yummy and looked great. We enjoyed talking with the other students. The entire experience was great. We highly recommend it.

Hire a Taxi to bring you to this cooking class. It is in a residential area and could be difficult to find if you don't know your way around. The school is up one flight of stairs. (no elevator) The people speak English which is a PLUS+. We prepared a 9 course meal. All courses were delicious but small by American standards. (maybe that is why so many Americans are over weight) In Japanese they say, HARA HACHI BU (Eat until you are 80% full). The instructor, was a pleasant Japanese woman that lived-in Southern California for 5 years. The class was well organized and flowed in a logical manner. They give lots of hands on assistance. It is amazing how they make it look so easy. After all of the food is prepared and right before eating you have the option to purchase a small bottle of Sake for $5.00 USD to enjoy with your meal. I'm glad I did. It gave a nice finishing touch to a great meal. Counting me, our class had a total of 7 people. I think they can fit 8-10 people in this class. We met some nice people that enjoy taking cooking classes when they travel. This was such a positive experience we will continue the practice of signing up for cooking classes that are highly rated by Tripadvisor.

This review is long overdue. I went to Japan last year, and did this activity in April of 2019. Warm, friendly, qualified instructors, who made everything seem so simple. I still make Japanese dishes back home in Montreal. I knew if I didn't learn how to make Japanese food I would regret it, and now I don't. Highly and unreseveredly recommended.

I was by myself but still enjoyed the class with miki-san a lot

She also showed me the Brand’s/bottles of condiments used and I can buy them just nearby at the mini stop, with reasonable size plastic bottle which I can carry home!

I always make it a point to take a cooking class when traveling abroad and Cooking Sun is one of the best around. The women running the class were knowledgeable, patient and informative. They guided us through each step of the class while teaching us why things were done a certain way, how they used to be done and how they're done now.

Everyone shared a hot plate with one other person so everyone had lots of hands-on time and a chance to practice. Instructions were clear and the instructors would jump with hands-on instruction as needed.

I took this class with my husband and brother we all enjoyed the whole experience including eating our delicious meal at the end. There were 7 of us in the class, having such a small group made it easy to get to know each other and the instructors.

Eat a small breakfast so your stomach doesn't growl all class but be prepared for a small feast after class!

Next time I'm in Tokyo I'll need to sign up for the Sushi class!

I took this class as part of a small group tour I was on. The instructors were wonderful. They educated us on traditional Japanese ingredients and walked us through every step of the sushi making process. And at the end we got to eat our creations!
