Neighborhood: Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.

For about $40 AUD, you can sample hundreds of sake, as well as shochu and drink beer and Suntory Highballs for as long as you like. Love the idea of bringing along your own food they provide utensils, plates and condiments. You pour your own, so you choose how much and what you taste. Also some crazy options like sake on icecream or mixed with daishi for no extra cost. Heaps of fun, great experience and well worth the money.

We really enjoyed our visit to kurand. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English. We got the 90 minute tasting and brought a bunch of food from the Mitsukoshi depachika- the food basement hall. They do have some canned snacks etc but I’d recommend bringing your own food. The have utensils, plates and condiments you can use. They had tasting notes on the sake so you can pick and choose. You can even ask for hot sake or sake affogatos. Really fun way to experience whiskey. But don’t come here to get drunk- there’s a penalty if you make a mess, etc.

We recently visited Kurand Sake and had an amazing time. There were literally 100 types of different Sake to choose ranging from dry to sweet across numerous regions of Japan. The staff was so helpful, and the best thing is that you could drink as much Sake as you wanted.
