The museum was quite small. The view is just lovely. Unfortunately, the Sengai piece we came to see was on loan to another collection (a good reminder to call before you go in such circumstances).

The Idemitsu museum is a jewel in Tokyo! Why? I have learned so much about Japanese art because of its superb collections and important National Treasures the museum share with the visitors. The spectrum is wide and rich in contents and history whether one would like...More

If you like ceramics then you shouldn't miss the Idemitsu museum. The artwork on display is astonishing. I recommend you visit the national museum in Tokyo as well, as there are some nice ceramics as well. The British Museum in London also has a breathtaking...More

I went thinking that there was going to be a substantial Georges Rouault exhibit. They had a handful of his paintings in a small room, but I'm under the impression that they will have a bigger exhibit in the fall. HOWEVER...the beautiful scrolls of 19th/early...More

This museum is perhaps less specialized than other reviewers suggested. Along with the focus on ceramics (Chinese, Korean, Japanese) there are often painted screens, illustrated Buddhist poems etc. It's a small museum that takes <2hrs to get around and has a nice view over some...More

This is a great museum but will not be of interest unless you have a deep and abiding passion for old pots and associated ceramics and porcelains. It is highly specialized. Assuming that you are a fan of such objects, then this is the place...More

Ginza / Tokyo Nihonbashi
Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's
also a downtown area with shops that were founded over
a hundred years ago. Department stores and luxury
boutiques line the route from Nihonbashi to Ginza.
It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll
while the road is closed to traffic. Luxury hotels,
world class cuisine from talented chefs, and a
collection of glitzy clubs will make this area popular
