Visited at night, hence not able to enter. However castle view itself at night is marvellous. It is magnificent, almost ethereal, and without the crowd, we were able to get as close as possible and gawk at the structure without disturbance, and just be there. Roamed around the park at night during late winter to early spring is another great experience. Saw some joggers, late night visitors like us, couples etc, basking in the cool weather.

We enjoyed strolling through the park and taking in the surrounding.
We have also visited the castle.

Personally, the part I enjoyed most is within the park, outside the castle. However, if it is your first time visiting the castle and if you are interested in the history of the castle, you could still pay to enter the castle which functions as a museum now. Nonetheless, it is still a beautiful castle.

Do note that the elevator on the ground floor only takes you up to the 5th floor (if my memory serves me correctly) and you have to queue for it. You will have to take the stairs should you decide to go to any other levels. If you are travelling with elderly or companions who may not be able to take the stairs, you may approach the staff and seek assistance.

If I am to travel to Osaka again, I will definitely visit the park again especially in a different season.

Winter illuminations are enhancing your photos of the castle, but it cost 1500 joy to get in...
Nevertheless , the park at night or daytime even under the rain is highly recommended.
It s utterly romantic , the proportion of the castle are humongous and make you feel the power of the Tokugawa.
Stroll at any moment even at night.

Be prepared to work into the inner courts non order to access the Osaka castle. If you prefer there is a golf cart type shuttle which brings you nearer into the inner courts to access the Castle which costs JPY200 adults and JPY100 for kids. Base on google map there are two subway stations which you can get to castle. I would say walking distance from either is similar ( we did both stations to/fro castle). The castle consists of 5floors pls note you can take the lift up but you have to navigate the stairs downward. Unsure if any exceptions for wheelchair bound folks. You basically take the lift all the way up and explore downwards level by level. There is a artifacts exhibition of the old Japanese era on the lower floors but some levels is photo prohibited so please note. The top level offers a scenic view of the castle surroundings and a little further but nothing too spectacular. We wondered around for an hour and came back down for a few commemorative photo shots.

This was a highlight of our holiday to Japan. Right near the train station when you arrive. We recommend you pay the small fee to get on the shuttle train in the entrance to get to the castle. Beautiful photo opportunites of the castle and the added bonus of the beautiful plum blossoms if you go in February. The entertainers just near the castle were very good and provided everyone with a laugh. We didn't go into the castle however you can for a small fee. There were souvenir shops and a small cafe near the castle also. A great day out, don't miss this one!!!

Great historic tourist venue. They do a nice job of providing a multi-media history display on each level of the castle. It is worth waiting in line for. The views from the top floor of 360 view of Osaka are excellent. A wonderful display of the history of the castle with 3D videos and also my favorite, a display of the various samurai armor - extensive head armor display. Having grown up in a museum family I was impressed with the quality and breadth of the head armor.

I would recommend taking the stairs up to the 8th level rather than waiting in line with the masses for the elevator. It is quicker, not to mention the health benefits. Then you can work your way down level by level to view the historic displays.

The castle provides lots of facilities for tourists to explore the history of Osaka. I visited this castle twice in a week and the museum nearby really help people explore the history deeper. Very impressive!

A beautiful place to go and spend time wandering through the gardens and along the moat. To see a piece of feudal time that has long passed. Allow a good two hours to wander around the gardens, The park is free a family destination complete with cafes and "motorised" trains that take you down to the Castle itself-costing is 300 yen one way or 500 yen return. If you are a senior the cost is 100 yen one way. Being on the" motorised"train it is a good way to see the park at a leisurely pace. Accessiblity is through the metro train lines. Unfortunately the castle was shut due to CO VID 19 but don't let that stop you,it is well worth the trip.

Even though the main castle was shut due to COVID19, the gardens offer plenty to look at and admire. This is quite a large area and you can easily spend a few hours just looking at the gardens. If you go on the right night, they had a light show available that lit up the castle grounds.

We also paid to go up to the viewing deck which also includes a drink of your choice and you can sit and look at the grounds and the castle.

Most people come to visit the castle of course. The park is quite large and has plenty to see. The castle has a large moat that surrounds it. Both inside the castle and outside are parks worth exploring. We came during sakura (cherry blossom) season and many visitors simply come to view the trees in blossom. In autumn, they have the ‘koyo’ (falling leaves) season. For sakura season, they also have a nighttime festival with lights that are on the castle itself as well as on the sakura trees that line the moat and area all over the grounds.
The park is quite large. For the weary traveler, they offered a golf cart to take you from a spot close to the metro all the way to the castle. For seniors, it was only 100 JPY or less than a dollar in the USA.
There is a very large statue of Toyotomi Hideyoshi,- Japan's second great unifier which is great photo opportunity.
So, come for the castle and linger for the park. We spent about 2.5 hours doing both.
