- james139 contributionsVery close to the train station and walking distance to the entrance of the park . There is a moat surrounding the castle and the park with various tour boats filled with gleeful tourists . The walk up to the Castle is gradual and has many beautiful foliage and surrounding views. The Castle is just such a. Beautiful structure that commands admiration from the base to the top of the tower. The Castle is now a museum that attracts many people and if you don’t have tickets online the wait is usually quite long and in our case over 1 hour . The grounds are just beautiful with many attractive picture opportunities. In spring over 300 cherry trees are in full bloom . The views from the main tower of the castle are spectacular especially on a clear day . The area is so tranquil and beautiful it compels visitors to stop and enjoy the scenery before you . Closer to the train station are various restaurants and shops to visit .Visited December 2024Traveled with friendsWritten January 12, 2025

- CorradoCosenza, Italy1,107 contributionsHot, hot and hot! Worth for a ride but absolutely in the afternoon!! (Watch the times with otherwise I would have done 17/19 to enjoy a walk. Bring water and take the train (better) with a few euros turn it around in 20 minutes without getting tired.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 16, 2024
- Marco TFlorence, Italy1,972 contributionsJapan is so full of extraordinary parks and gardens that it can be difficult to get excited about this expanse of greenery interspersed with benches, small stone statues and two temples. But if you manage to understand it in its entirety - even with a piecemeal reconstruction, side by side - observing it from the terrace on the top floor of the castle you realize that you are faced with something that looks a lot like a small forest, made of a great variety of trees, each more beautiful than the other. However, be careful not to get lost in this immense space and not to make the wrong exit: it would be a great additional effort!Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 22, 2024
- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada9,396 contributionsWe had a pleasant walk around the Osaka Castle Park on New Year's Day and felt we got some very nice photos. The castle was closed when we visited but we still enjoyed the park. We got off at Ōsakajōkōen Station after taking the circle loop line from Osaka Station and there was a nice area with some restaurants and cafes. Near the park we found a couple of vendors selling street food including cheese coins and pancakes with pork inside. We would recommend wearing good shoes here and around Osaka because there is lots to see while walking around.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 2, 2024
- Jennifer H4 contributionsOsaka Castle Park is a peaceful escape with a touch of grandeur. The castle, with its impressive architecture and rich history, stands proudly at the centre, surrounded by lush greenery. Strolling through the park, I enjoyed the serene ponds, cherry blossoms, and friendly locals. Climbing to the castle’s observation deck offered lovely views of the city. A delightful blend of culture and nature!Visited December 2024Traveled with familyWritten December 4, 2024
- heartinnatureSingapore, Singapore131 contributionsWe reached there early around 8am before the tourist groups arrived. The weather was great. A very kind gentleman took our pictures for free at a spot which we would never have known - where we got a great reflection of the castle in a pond. We had the JR pass, so took the train to the castle from Osakajoukoen Station, and took the one back to our hotel from Morinomiya Station, so we got to see different parts of the park.Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 26, 2024
- GMANMOVINGTrichardt, South Africa46 contributionsIf history and architecture are your thing, visiting Osaka castle is a must. The castle towers above the rest of the buildings surrounding it. There is a "train" if you don't feel like walking, but if you walk, you will see much more. You have quite a walk best not to take young kids along. You will spend most of the day if you want to explore it all. I highly recommend visiting Osaka castleVisited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 30, 2024
- RamsumHyderabad, India137 contributionsMust visit to know history a little closer. The park itself was unkempt but gives good views. Also not many people recommend going inside the castle and hence park offers good vantage.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 3, 2024
- JKGreen19 contributionsThe castle is not original and was actually a modern museum. Interesting artefacts but a little disappointing as it was so modern looking inside. It has an elevator for those not able to climb eight flights of stairs. However, at the moment the elevator only goes up the first five flights. The view from the top was awesome and it was nice to people watch in the park. There were also two buskers which was quite entertaining. Would suggest booking tickets to avoid the long queue!Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 23, 2024

Visited at night, hence not able to enter. However castle view itself at night is marvellous. It is magnificent, almost ethereal, and without the crowd, we were able to get as close as possible and gawk at the structure without disturbance, and just be there. Roamed around the park at night during late winter to early spring is another great experience. Saw some joggers, late night visitors like us, couples etc, basking in the cool weather.

Initially I found the city of Osaka utterly overwhealming and confusing, but after some deeper exploring this feeling was gradually replaced by excitement and awe. So far, however, I’m happy that I don’t have to live here, but the city is actually worth a visit…
Just remember to keep a basic to-do list at hand for your first visit, or you may easily get lost at some point…
I had just one day in the city and started out from Osaka Castle Park. From the top of the castle I got a shot of the nearby Lawson Crystal Tower where the glass facade reflections made the building seem almost transparent…!

We enjoyed strolling through the park and taking in the surrounding.
We have also visited the castle.
Personally, the part I enjoyed most is within the park, outside the castle. However, if it is your first time visiting the castle and if you are interested in the history of the castle, you could still pay to enter the castle which functions as a museum now. Nonetheless, it is still a beautiful castle.
Do note that the elevator on the ground floor only takes you up to the 5th floor (if my memory serves me correctly) and you have to queue for it. You will have to take the stairs should you decide to go to any other levels. If you are travelling with elderly or companions who may not be able to take the stairs, you may approach the staff and seek assistance.
If I am to travel to Osaka again, I will definitely visit the park again especially in a different season.

Winter illuminations are enhancing your photos of the castle, but it cost 1500 joy to get in...
Nevertheless , the park at night or daytime even under the rain is highly recommended.
It s utterly romantic , the proportion of the castle are humongous and make you feel the power of the Tokugawa.
Stroll at any moment even at night.

This is a great venue for photos, but the museum aspect was not very interesting for me. If you're really into Japanese military history it would suit you! The Castle was rebuilt in the 30's and huge reno in 1997 so don't expect anything too old here.

Be prepared to work into the inner courts non order to access the Osaka castle. If you prefer there is a golf cart type shuttle which brings you nearer into the inner courts to access the Castle which costs JPY200 adults and JPY100 for kids. Base on google map there are two subway stations which you can get to castle. I would say walking distance from either is similar ( we did both stations to/fro castle). The castle consists of 5floors pls note you can take the lift up but you have to navigate the stairs downward. Unsure if any exceptions for wheelchair bound folks. You basically take the lift all the way up and explore downwards level by level. There is a artifacts exhibition of the old Japanese era on the lower floors but some levels is photo prohibited so please note. The top level offers a scenic view of the castle surroundings and a little further but nothing too spectacular. We wondered around for an hour and came back down for a few commemorative photo shots.

Everyone knows Osaka Castle, but I've never been to Osaka Castle even though I had business in Osaka. This was my first time. I was able to get into the parking lot on the east side of the park before 10am, but when I left before noon, there were cars waiting for a spot. I learned for the first time when I got here that Osaka Castle Park is large, so you shouldn't think about walking to the castle tower. Especially on hot summer days or when you have small children. Luckily, there is a vehicle called a "road train" and I used it. The fare is cheap. You can get close to the castle tower while enjoying the view from the train window. The castle tower looks big, but you can't tell just by looking at it how it compares to the others. According to an explanation on one website, Edo Castle is 44.8m high, Osaka Castle is 44m high, and Nagoya Castle is 36m high.

I came here on a trip to Osaka. Osaka Castle Park is large and has the castle tower, Japanese gardens, historical sites, and commercial facilities. It will probably take about a day to take your time looking around, taking photos of the castle tower and Japanese gardens, and buying souvenirs at the commercial facilities. Next time I'll go mainly for souvenirs.

This is the amazingly beautiful park which surrounds the castle. There are paths everywhere so strolling is simple. There are kiosks scattered about the area. The nearby train station is about a 15 minute walk. The trick is to find a less crowded area so it's easier to sit and linger, just enjoying the park.

This was a highlight of our holiday to Japan. Right near the train station when you arrive. We recommend you pay the small fee to get on the shuttle train in the entrance to get to the castle. Beautiful photo opportunites of the castle and the added bonus of the beautiful plum blossoms if you go in February. The entertainers just near the castle were very good and provided everyone with a laugh. We didn't go into the castle however you can for a small fee. There were souvenir shops and a small cafe near the castle also. A great day out, don't miss this one!!!

What time does the park close? We will be arriving in namba around 3:30PM . We plan to go to the osaka castle park after checking in at our hotel. I know the castle closes at around 4:30PM during autumn season, but can we still stroll around within the park near the castle even until around 7PM?

I notice that there are a number of train stops near this park... Which one should I get off from for easier access to the park? Thank you.
Written June 1, 2019
very easy on the osaka metro
from namba:
1) Yotsubashi Line Nishi-Umeda (2 stops) starting at Namba Station to Hommachi Station
2) Chuo Line Gakken-Nara Tomigaoka (3 stops) starting at Hommachi Station to Morinomiya Station

Due to the Osaka traffic congestion, it is convenient to take train to get Osaka Castle unless you have a group of travellers. Osaka transportation fares still consider cheaper than North America cities

Добрый день! Подскажите, замок работает до 16-30. Можно ли парк около замка посетить после этого времени?
Hello! Tell me plz, the castle is open until 16.30 p.m. Park near the castle can be visited after this time?
Written May 14, 2018
They close exactly at 5pm. I think they start not letting people into the Castle starting at 4:30pm (that's what the other castles and temples also did while I was in Japan).
