Former manshion or Ijinkan is a former residence of foreign merchants and diplomats and now become museum. We must walk uphill to go there because located at the foot of Rokko mountain. There was a Flower Festival along the road to Ijinkan when I was...More

Lunched at Kobe Club where our kids learned to swim in the Summer holidays when we lived next door, good food in tranquil surroundings. Interesting and smart area for visitors. Excellent meal at Cafe de Paris one evening.

Our 2nd trip here … after a distant 4.5 years! This time we alight at Sanomiya sta (from Osaka) and walked northwards. Across quiet neighbourhood but as it’s set on a upslope hillside it was a steepest walk under hot summer sun, for 30 mins...More

This is a well preserved and maintained area of Kobe and is lovely to walk around. It’s an option to buy tickets and view the interiors of the European houses. One word of warning is that it’s set on a hillside and is a steepish...More

Can be combined with the Herb Gardens and Cable Car, plus easy access with the hop on hop off bus. Nice area for a stroll around, entry to the houses seems expensive, but the little shops and cafes are cute.

This peaceful neighbourhood on the hillside above Kobe is worth a walk around. It has a few old colonial houses and quiet little streets. A side of the city that is worth seeing.

We have a a quick tour around this area and did not enter any of the attractions. We feel that this place has it’s own charm but not something for us to be ‘wow’. If you are in Kobe and do not wish to spend...More

The area where the foreigners used to have their homes. Some are well preserved and open to the public. It is a nice area to stroll around. We visited the Dutch house, for a fee that I found rather expensive, and that was for me...More

I really liked this area. It was clean, quiet, and reminiscent of Europe with it's street lamps and old western-style houses. Some of these houses are museums. I went to two: Moegi No Yakata (green-colored) and the Weathercock Mansion (red-colored). They are very close to...More

Quaint, traditional colonial houses were great spots for photos. Boulevard that are well kept with floral and foliage that enhance the old world charm. Do check out Starbucks and it was really like stepping into someone’s bungalow complete with books, chandelier and picture frames that...More

There are mentions of the name Sassoon in the Jewish history of Kobe found on the internet-but if their house has been turned into a wedding reception place the number is +81-78-2514111.
