Fab tax tic place for young & old

Celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the birth of famed modeller Hara Notaburo. This exhibition is outstanding. It shows the skills and dedication of a railway engineer. The design of models is more authentic than manufacturers have ever achieved.

The layouts will impress 3veryone as to their detail and authentic presentation. The night and day scenarios are overwhelming.

A Fascinating Experience
Feb 2019 • Couples
I'll admit, I found this place and added it to our list of things-to-do only because I knew my husband would enjoy it. Little did I know that I would as well! This museum/collection was fascinating, intriguing, and educational.

The museum itself was very well done, is well-maintained, and has a great mix of media and exhibits (interactive, educational, action-oriented, etc.).

While there is some english information on their app, I would like to see more of his life history/other place-cards translated.

The Ultimate Train Set
Oct 2018
Even if you are not a model train fan, this is one thing not to miss in Yokohama. It is an easy walk from Yokohama station and signposted when you get to the building. The museum of model trains is interesting enough but the big train set is something else. The attention to detail is exquisite. All the signal lights go on and off, there are daytime and nighttime modes, the lights inside the carriages come on, there is a moving cable car, roundhouse and cars on a road. You can even drive the trains which have cameras in the front so you can see the track and features ahead on a screen. There is also a smaller train set model of Yokohama.

Special Exhibit of Tokyu
Sep 2018 • Couples
This museum is Japanese Miniature Wonderland. Difference is size of Model. Bigger than O gaze and suspension is almost same as real railroad car and some of them use live wire for electricity.
Until December of 2018, there has special exhibition of Tokyu corporation which developed full stainless car first in Japan.
Tokyu developed stainless car under licensed Budd corporation in US. Here we find important evidence and real agreement. Tokyu disclose technology and contributed to become popular of stainless car in Japan.

Super interesting (not only for train enthusiasts)
Sep 2018
I have always liked train models but not that much. Never owned one or never been to any exhibition. Went to this museum mainly because of my husband and I don't regret. It's great! Especially the main hall with the huge train model set. You can also try riding a train, at least through the simulated ride ;) Have fun!

Be the engineer
May 2018
As noted by others, this museum has a wonderful, extensive collection and terrific working model train setup. The best part (for which you need to reserve a time slot on entering the museum) is donning an engineer's hat, sitting at a realistic throttle, and guiding your model train along the tracks, monitoring your progress on a computer screen viewing the scene from a camera at the front of your locomotive.

Excellent Model Railroad Museum
Aug 2018 • Couples
As you might expect there were lots of little children. It seems young children share a love for model trains around the world. Something some of us never outgrow, as was the case with the Mr. Hard, the museum’s founder and builder/collector of the train models and dioramas in the museum. In addition to train models in a variety of scales, they also display his collection of photos, tickets, and memorabilia from his travels to railroads all around the world.

The museum is up the escalator on the 2nd floor, but the museum shop is almost hidden on the first floor. It has some unusual items, including keychains with station signs from stations around Japan.
