It is a nice spot to enjoy Sapporo citylights. Just be aware that during winter, the view are often blocked by blizzard. JPY 1700 for roundtrip cable car ride.

I personally like the ropeway and the view at the summit. It was breathtakingly beautiful and we were playing with a lot of snow at the summit. Great fun overall!

Windy and cold during winter. It also depends on luck. Sometimes there are snow or fog blocking. See the photo attached to have a idea. Download vouchers to get some discount.

Learn from my bad experience going to Mt Moiwa in the cold Dec month at night. Paid ¥1700 all the way to the top only to witness spots of lights among the vast darkness in sub zero temperature and strong wind blowing in your face....More

Mt. Moiwa Ropeway - Mt. Moiwa Ski (1 Replies)
I'm planning to go to both Sapporo's Mt. Moiwa Ropeway and to the Ski Resort. How can I get to both places most efficiently using only public transport. p.s. We don't want to get a taxi since it's quite expensive. Thanks.

Hi, From downtown take the streetcar (Y220)- doesn't matter in which direction really because it is a loop and you are going 50% round the loop. Get off at Ropeway Iriguchi stop and walk about 10 mins to the bottom the the cable car. Then the cable car and then railway to the top is Y1,700 (Y800 Kids), round trip ticket. This takes you to the tourist facilties at th top - shops, restaurants and city view. The ski area is really on the back of this mountain. You won't see much on the...More

So we'll be travelling to Sapporo in a bit, we're planning to go to both Mt. Moiwa Ropeway (Observatory) and the Ski Resort. Is there anyway we can go from Mt. Moiwa Ropeway to the Ski Resort or vice versa. Any help would be useful! :D

Mt. Moiwa Ropeway to Ski Ground (1 Replies)
Hi, I would like to go to the Mt. Moiwa Ropeway and Ski Ground. Is it possible to walk easily from the top ropeway station to the ski ground in mid December? Is there some kind of clear path? I'm asking as I notice that there is no mention of using the ropeway to access the ski ground. Thanks!

Hey there Yes, it is easy to walk from the top of the Ropeway to the ski ground...it's about 5 minutes through the trees on the left. And actually the road that goes to the top of Moiwa becomes a ski course in winter...so it's easy to walk/ski down it and one of the lifts comes up to just near the ropeway station. If you are skiing you can buy a ski pass at the Ropeway Station, but there is no ski equipment hire on the Ropeway side...that is down at the ski center the other side of the...More
