Temple sits around a lovely garden. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom and it made the evening magical. The drooping cherry tree under lights looks, Devine.

We had the perfect time for cherry blossoms all around Japan & the cherry tree here was just stunning. The grounds are large & very well maintained as are most temple grounds. We enjoyed our visit here..didn't get back for the lights but have heard...More

We really went here just for the night illuminations and were glad we did. After the weekend crowds at one of the other main temple attractions it was a relief to be at a beautiful temple site with only around 20 or so others. The...More

We enjoyed the night hours to see the foliage. All the fellow visitors (a lot of school groups) were lovely in their enthusiasm and respectful interest.

There are dozens of temples in Kyoto, some more beautiful and some more memorable than others. I enjoyed walking around the temple complex although we did not pay to go insidse the museum or the temple itself. We had seen three other temples the day...More

We visited Kodai-ji during the autumn illuminations period this fall, and we were simply stunned! Not sure what to expect exactly before we went, but having heard the trek to the temple in the evening was well worth it - we were not disappointed. It's...More

At kodaiji site there is a separate info for 'illumination'. Also helpful is japan-guide for general information.
