Although there is lots of refurbishment going on, I'd still recommend you visit this temple if you are staying in Kyoto. There is lots to see in the temple grounds, and the view from the temple is brilliant.

the buses in Kyoto are the best way of accessing most sights, including kiyomizu-dera. your hotel should be able to give you the bus TT or go to information at Kyoto station.
