Just pass by at evening when its dark, that is the time when these are light up and look beatiful. At day they are not so impressive even though some might like them

This was our first stop on our day long tour of Kyoto. We reached early morning when the light were still on and then they were switched off. Both views were nice.

You can see many pillars which have kimono cloth inside in front of Randen Arashiyama Station. It's like a kimono forest, and many people come here and enjoy taking pictures.

The Arashiyama Kimon Forest is inside Tandem Arashiyama Station. Columns of kimono are displayed inside for photo-taking and the place will be more attractive when the illumination lights are on.

Basically this is a smallish group of poles with fabric inside them. Maybe there is some significance in the fabric that I missed but to be honest it didn't do much for me.
