Great lunch and visit of the cellars (but no cooking class)
Informative and funny tour through the cellars and a great lunch paired with very good wines. This combined with a chance to visit the kitchen and have some secrets explained made this a very nice visit. Only reason for four stars is that this trip was booked via wijnreizen.it The visit to the kitchen was sold as a cooking workshop were we would be cooking ourselves (group of 8) with guidance of the chef. As we could only watch the chef cooking and listen to him explaining what he did, this was not what we expected.
It was a great pleasure having you as our guests and we are sorry to read that your experience with us was different from your expectations, and our guests’ comment is very important to us. We hope to welcome you here again soon and improve your experience.

    Barolo’s love-story
Located slightly outside Barolo’s main street, they offer a pleasant visit to the cave with an affordable wine testing afterwards. Mr. Simone showed us his passion and his knowledge throughout the path. Testing Barolo younger than 10 years is a pity but I appreciate the business approach.

excellent, interesting and delicious winery experience
excellent, interesting and delicious winery experience. this was my first and so far favourite winery visiting experience. My friend work in F&B , and he organised this amazing winery trip together with us. we started with winery tour learning the history of the owner and the development of the wine making, it is very interesting to listen and the staff are very good on speaking in English also. follow by a terrace outdoor tasting with white wine to start. the view is breath taking. we finished with a wine and dine experience , have to say this dining experience is like you are in a Michelin star restaurant, the ingredient are from local , and they have their own restaurant and chef. every dish pairing with their Barolo own wine, everything is just perfect since they are pairing everything produce by their house. so far I really enjoyed it and hopefully go back to visit soon!
Thank you very much for the lovely words, it was a great pleasure having you as our guests! See you soon!

    Total rip off
Wine tasting is a total rip off. You sit in their office space and pay €25 for 2 sips of wine (they call them 'glasses' but it's not more than a splash in each glass). The total experience is about 15 minutes. It was a total money grab and a total waste of our time in Barolo. You're better off going outside of town to smaller wineries that don't rob you to taste a sip of wine.
Thank you for coming to visit us, your comment is very important. We are sorry to read that your experience was not pleasant as you expected. Our staff will take your opinion to improve the tasting we propose.

good wine but overpriced for being directly in Barolo
Marchesi de Barolo is a famous Winery in Barolo. Travelling through we decided to buy a bottle of Barolo to go with the truffles we had just purchased. In Hindsight I realise we were better to go to a small local winery along the way than fall to the touristy bigness of the setup here. It is clean and proper but ready for large groups of (overseas) tourists who do not have a lot of knowledge of wine. We were saddend that the price for a bottle was MORE that we pay in Switzerland. Our expectations were not met. We told the salesman who pretended to be surprised: (where is my eye rolling emoji?) Yes the bottle was very good, no doubt- that we drank the next night (€49.00). However if visiting Barolo I think it would be better to go off the beaten track and look for something more authentic.
Thank you for coming to visit us, your opinion is very important. We are sorry to read that your experience was not what you were looking for. Our staff will be happy to welcome you in another occasion and improve your experience. We hope to seeing you again in Barolo.

    Visit winery Marchesi di Barolo
In juli 2020 we visited the winery of Marchesi di Barolo. The winery is very nice located and decorated. We had a guided tour during which we learned about the history and the way the wines are stored. It was very facinating to see the big wine barrels in which the wines are stored untill they are ready to be bottled. The tour ended in the shop where all their wines can be bought. Unfortunately the wine tasting was limited due to COVID-19. We bought some wines which tasted fantastic. In short it was a very interesting visit which we can recommend to everyone visiting the Barolo area.

    Great experience
We enjoyed every moment, Matteio was very knowledgeable and always added interesting information. Answered all of our questions. The place itself is magical, showcasing new & old techniques. And the wines were out of this world!! We recommend this tour so much

    Mixed due to business model
Wonderful tour. Very informative. In the city so easy to go to. This is the production facility so not on the vineyard itself. They are a huge production. However it is commercial and the wine tasting is a huge rip off. They charge 7.5 euro for a glass but a glass is maybe 2 ounces. We just left a place where we paid 10 for 5 tastes and food and here it was 7.5 for one taste (that they market as a glass). Won’t be buying wine from them!
Dear Runnersar, thank you for visiting us! It was a pleasure to have you as our guests. Regarding the wine tasting, we offer different options and all of them include the tour of the Ancient Cellars and the combined services. We hope to welcome you again here in Barolo! Best Regards, Cantine Marchesi di Barolo

    Tourist trap
Every wine region have a few of these. Steer well clear if you've been on a few wine tours (you'll have a much better experience talking to the owner at a few of the smaller producers in the area). However, if it's your first wine tour, this is a great place to visit for a basic overview of the region whilst doing an introductory tour of this historic estate.

    Highlight of our Italy experience.
Visiting Barolo and specifically this winery, were the highlight of our trip to Italy. We set up an English speaking tour through email on their website and we also arranged to have lunch after the tour was complete (about 50 euro per person and totally worth it. They also accommodated the menu for my husband who can't eat pork). The tour was outstanding. There were maybe 12 people in our tour group and we got to see the amazing cellar where the wine barrels are kept. Our tour guide explained the process to us and I learned a great deal about Barolo wines. More so than any other winery tour I have taken. The tasting was exquisite. By far some of the best wine I've ever had. They have an adorable and high quality wine and gift shop where they can easily arrange to ship wine home for you. It was around 88 euro to ship 6 bottles to California for us. Parking is limited but they have a courtyard that you drive into if you decide to drive to the location. We got there early and thankfully got a spot. The tasting price ranges from 15 - 20 euro for 3 wines. It was a wonderfully intimate and high quality experience getting to tour this winery, partake in delicious 4 course lunch and taste their exceptional wines. It didn't feel overly touristy at all. We loved every second of it.

I visited their wine cellar and did tasting with my husband. The cellar tour was very informative and interesting. They have a big cellar and it lasted around 30mins. Just the cellar tour is around 10€ and I would recommend it.

After the cellar we did tasting (20€ person) with cold meat cuts (16€ for 2). In my opinion the tasting was too pricey and the staff didn't have the time to explain the wines and we ended up waiting a lot to get served. The tasting portions were very small and we tried 3 wines so I felt this is over priced. In many smaller wineries in the area the tasting fee can be refunded if you by some wine but not here. We also get served by 4 different staff member so we felt like they really didn't care.

Ok place in general but there are lots of more welcoming vineries in the area. Would recommend to just get the cellar tour.

Ten years ago, my husband and I visited this winery and somehow wound up having lunch - and it was the absolute highlight of our trip. At the time we were staying in San Remo and made the drive. We swore if we had the chance we would come back and visit this place again.
Las month we spent 5 days in Piedmont and we indeed went back to the winery, took the tour and had lunch. It is a little more organized than 10 years ago, and the wines are still excellent, the winery is so enjoyable and I can't even begin to praise the lunch - complete with wine pairings. You can choose between 3 or 4 courses. There is a menu with at least two choices for each course - and of course dessert. We finished our visit with a purchase of three bottles of wine including their prized barolo. I would have bought more, but I didn't think I would get it home. Spend a couple of hours here - you won't be disappointed. You do need a reservation for lunch. The 3 course lunch with wine pairings was 38 Euros per person.

As a travel agent, a tour partner arranged for a private guided tour of the Piedmont area. Our guide, Alberto hit a home run by taking us to this incredible winery. We were given a tour and description of how this, the 4th oldest winery in Europe Produces such pleasing Barolo. Were were treated to tasting several wines with cheese, meats and bread. I wish I had a picture of their confessional booth. Very humorous touch...
The gift shop sold many of their wines and prices that were hard to resist.
Best time of year to visit as we saw the grapes being brought in. Looking forward to a great 2014 year.
