We really enjoyed getting to be this close to a glacier (at 1km away it felt in our face!). The knowledgeable, happy, and friendly guides were great. It was a long van ride from Tranquilo, with nice views along the way but for fog, then we got reshuffled at the pier, then the boatride was not short either but also good views despite fog. No bathroom on boat - use one before getting on and at the park with the short walk near the glacier. They fed us (and I am vegetarian) very well (starting on the boatride) - eating a hot meal while sitting on the top of the boat looking at the glacier calve was incredible. Wear full rain/wind gear and gloves and have a strap on your camera. Wear waterproof walking shoes/boots or take a change of good socks.

There are no words to describe our experience at taking a boat ride out to this glacier - it was incredible from start to finish. A must see. We were lucky it was a beautiful sunny day (and pre-Covid!). This was actually in Feb 2020 but TA won’t let me review that far back so just adding that caveat. Amazing wonder!

in february i went with the company tourismo los arrayanes from puerto rio tranquillo for 135´000pesos to the laguna san raphael. The guide is a local and loves the beauty of its region. he wants to show the tourists what fascinates him so much and explains a lot about the history, the sailing, the weather in the area, the past, his live, the nature and puts a lot of hearth and love into the tour. we all ( a group of max. 12pers) felt that passion of him for the area and had really emotional time on the boat and could enjoy the glaciar 2 hours from really closein the boat! with whisky, nuts and following selfmade amazing lunch inkl. wine infront of that amazing glaciar! it is the best thing i have ever seen and the best decission to go with this company! they made my experience that lovely. best birthday gift ever!

To view 2 glaciers that will not be around much longer, because of global warming, this was one of the most amazing parts of our trip to see the Catadras de Marmol. Take a drive on your own and you will not be disappointed by the scenery leading up to the glaciers.

We went out with Ian and Turismo Rio Exploradores and recommend them highly! We drove in the morning from Rio Tranquillo (~2 hrs), then met Ian in Bahia Expolardoes, took a boat across a river, and then a van to the boat. They were very informative guides and the trip is beautiful. We had lunch on the shore, and explored the icebergs in the bay. The glacier was beautiful beyond words - so blue, so huge. It was magical. A highlight of our trip to Chile!

We drove to the park where we left our vehicle and were taken by boat to the very front of the San Rafael glacier. Lots of falling ice from the face of the glacier and many icebergs floating in the lagoon in front. They served a lunch of toasted sandwich on the boat and we drank whiskey from a (small) iceberg the crew pulled up onto the boat. A full 6 to 8 hour day in all.

Laguna San Rafael is like nothing I have ever seen before. The huge granite mountains, the bright blue rivers, and the abundant hanging glaciers at every turn. If passing through or staying in Rio Tranquilo, you cannot miss this park. This is Patagonia. This is what people dream about seeing. Take my word for it, and find a way to pay a visit.

We started the tour to the national parc from Puerto Rio Tranquillo and I have to say it is a long way. But you are in nature, on rivers, lakes on a boat. There are waterfalls, dolphins, birds, sea lions on your way. The closer we came to the icebergs the more we got exited. It was an awesome trip and we would go again without hesitation.
