A tough climb with old folks and 2 young kids but well worth every step taken for the beautiful view at the end! Definitely a must visit and a mountain climb you have to experience when you are in Guilin!

We did this the day before Bajiaozhai, which was the bigger highlight. But it is nice to "warm up" in the area. On the way down from the parking, walk up to the right and through the crack (it starts opposite of the little temple). You will see the first view point and walk down to the boat pier. From there it was another nice hike to the second view point. Hiking down is easy, no need for using cable car.

Be prepared to climb a lot of stairs. The hike starts right from the parking lot down to the river and from the river you take a cable car up to the midway point. From the midway point, you will need to hike to the peak. At the end, the view is breathtaking. To me, the climb was worth it. To others it can be a very tedious journey.

It is not really suitable for senior citizens even with the cable car unless they have been exercising regularly else it can be really tough for them. The cable car is only part of the journey to the peak, you will still need to climb some (actually many) stairs from the cable car to the peak.

Some information which might be useful for others: We went there by private taxi from Ziyuan (300 RMB back and forth combined with Bajiaozhai National Forest Park, probably overpriced). We had to pay 38 RMB entrance fee (after having again refused a higher, "special" price from our taxi driver). The hike up through the very green forest is nice. The view from the glass platform and the platform itself is less spectacular than what one can see at the top of Bajiaozhai National Forest Park.
The whole visit (hiking up and down to the glass platform) took us ~1.5 hours in a rather quick pace. To get there and back is quite an adventure without knowing any Chinese, but definitely worth the trip if combined with Bajiaozhai! Do the hike and forget about the cablecar!

Very good to do in half a day and combine with Bajiaozhai national park.
