Offering both a train ride as well as the option to explore a mine and historical town, this is a really well rounded stop in Qianwei county, and a great way to see some beautiful countryside as well. Time didn't allow for the mining portion, but the train was great fun through rugged terrain and mountain-side tunnels. The halfway point of the journey was the town of Bagou, still inhabited by both residents and many relics of the Mao era. The setting is both dramatic and pristine and rambling through this village was one of the highlights of my entire trip. The complete journey took a few hours, though adding the mining option would have added at least a few more. The cost for myself was about $20, and for the variety of experience I would say worth it. I believe it can be reached by public transport but I was lucky to have the driving assistance of my guide who suggested it in the first place. Highly recommend to give a great insight into the region from a different time period to most of the attractions.
