My husband and I visited this place yesterday on an extremely hot and sunny July day. We drove from South Wales to attend a wedding in Streatham, so we stayed in Premier Inn Chiswick. This park was only a few minutes walk from the hotel. Entry to the gardens is free, but parking required pay by App only, which we didn’t have. The gardens are very mature, large and widely spread. Unfortunately the lawn was very dry, yellow and not well kept as the UK was going through a Red Alert heat wave. There were so many visitors especially locals with their dogs, many of them were sunbathing and picnicking. The lake was nice with ducks and dogs swimming. The cafe is quite big and served almost everything you like with seating inside and outside. I fully recommend visiting this place.

This has been on our to do list for a while,we have visited the gardens in 2020 but the house has been closed for a while. We now have the art pass which gets us free entry to the house but had to pay extra for the kitchen garden(not made very clear on the web site.)
Although we enjoyed visiting the house and having Lady Cora Grantham providing the audio guide, not sure that its worth the high entry fee. Also we felt the extra cost to see the kitchen garden wasnt worth the extra £10-just to see some tulips and rhubarb!
We think that the cost of the gardens should be included in the cost with visiting the house like at Osterley and Ham House.
The cafe is overpriced(seems to be the norm with English heritage and National trust properties!)
Finally the toilets are a disgrace,I complained to the mananger in the cafe, but she made the excuse that they were too busy to clean them-NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
The free gardens are beautiful, save money and dont bother with the kitchen garden!

Impromptu visit on what happened to be the last day of the season prior to reopening next April, so serendipity was at play. Great value for money, interesting yet concise audio guide and a house that piques one’s curiosity without being overwhelming in terms of size and ostentation. Thanks go to staff member Monica who emanates sincere geniality and conveys factual tidbits so effortlessly.

The park is free to enter and enjoy. Lots of benches dotted around.
House was nice to visit. It's not very big, so entry ticket was a bit much I thought.
With an art pass, although entry to the house is free for you and a guest, we had to pay extra to visit the kitchen gardens. Kitchen gardens were nice but should be included in the price of the house ticket.
Cafe was extremely busy and we had a very long wait time for our food. Very pricey food at that!
It's quite a good idea to take a picnic and enjoy the park for free!

Hadn’t visited for many years. The accessible part of the house itself is limited, but lovely. The loud video introduction that booms around the ground floor is intrusive and at odds with the Paladian tranquility of the building. Can it not be silent, with captions? The gardens are also lovely, but are blighted by the presence of large numbers of dogs - many noisy - that are not required to be kept on leads.

The displays were very good for children, but perhaps not so enthralling for adults. The whole exhibition seemed a little more commercial, especially with the small fair at the end to persuade one to spend a little more (especially if you have children). The Kew Gardens display came across as artistic, almost awe-inspiring, but these didn't reach those dizzy heights I'm afraid.

I’ve been to 4 of these events now and sadly nothing compares with the first.
The 2020 version is a little different, some animatronics, larger pieces, lasers and sound but none of this makes it worth the admission price.
Last night was almost empty. Entry wasn’t checked - we could have wandered around for free and frankly wished we had!
A few larger scale set pieces are fun but nothing compares with the “flocks” and visual impact of year one. That was ground breaking. This is not.
Someone needs to marry up expectations, marketing, actually deliver what’s promised in the hype and rethink this dramatically.
It’s a pleasant walk at night for £5. At £20 a ticket it’s a monumental rip off. Very disappointed.
Lightopia? More like dystopia to me...

I visited yesterday and was so impressed with the staff, especially the Visitor Experience Manager who really went the extra mile to help me with my car parking problems. I was so impressed and grateful. Thank you.
It was a rushed visit because of traffic delays but I enjoyed the interior architecture. The gallery was superb. Not quite so impressed with the paintings but there is a Van Dyck.
Pleasant coffee and cake in the cafe too. It doesn’t have quite the charm of a National Trust cafe though.

We booked in advance for 6pm on a Friday night. Unfortunately it was a cold rainy evening, although there were dry periods. This meant that we didn't linger, but it had the advantage that it was not too busy. I felt sorry for the traders given how quiet it was.
The show was enjoyable, especially the exhibits which were more animated.
On the initial part, I think they could have made more of the architecture of the house itself which was in darkness, even if they had just bathed it in light, so I was pleased to see the light show at the other side, on to the garden facade.
In terms of getting there, when I last went I was able to park in the car park there. This time it was not allowed, with the car park for blue badge holders only, thus the car park was almost empty. While not disabled, the 20 minute walk to and from Turnham Green Station was tiring to two people over 60. I hope they rethink this.
We had some churros and (much needed) warm mulled wine along the way, fortunately arriving at the marquee just as the 20 minute acrobatic show was about to start, which was enjoyable.

Visited the house and gardens on a coach trip. Due to Covid restrictions our party had to enter the house in groups of 6. As this meant some of us waiting outside one person asked if she could come back later, and was told no - the afternoon was fully booked. However, when we got inside we were told to leave again as the house was over full. We were then told we could get some lunch and return in an hours time! On our return the house was very quiet, so obviously not fully booked. Visited the kitchen garden, which was ticketed. Told our coach trip did not include the kitchen garden, which I find a bit odd. However, the lady in charge was very pleasant, and as we are English Heritage members, let us in. Despite these glitches, we did enjoy our visit. The house is small but has some impressive rooms. There is an audio guide, which gives you the background. Gardens are very pleasant, but, as it was the last day of school, very busy with end of term celebrations.

The gardens are open until sunset which I guess in the summer is 8.00 or 9.00 and the house is closed in winter months and open until 4.00 pm the rest of the year
