The holes on the rock and the river are as beautiful as it is seen on photos. The best place to start, go to the restroom, change clothes and eat something before starting it the “Café de mi Tierra”. From there, you have to walk some 10 minutes and pay a little fee to traverse a private land. Then you get to the main area of the river. On weekends and high season it is unfortunately, full of people playing music on their portable speakers and beer sellers yelling loud. If this area is too crowded, walk 50 or 100 meters upstream, enjoy the river and (please!) don’t litter or make lod noise to allow others enjoy this beauty of nature.

The plan to commute by bus from Villa de Leyva to Barichara (6hours) was changed when we got an offer from Nomada Movimiento Inteligente to consider sightseeing off the beaten path on the way to Barichara . The tour took us 11 hours
We were on a nice minivan with stops at Las doses the Angeles- the Guadalupe Cathedral and a Colombian lunch and the highlight The natural Jacuzzis of Las Gachas. A lot of natural pools! We were by ourselves in the area as it’s not touristy but more popular only with the locals. Compared to the Caño Crystalla.. You trek 20 min one way and 40 round trip passing by hills rivers, cows a few gates -(it’s tight so if your body is not slim, you have to squeeze yourself or climb the gate! ). You pay a very minimal fee to the locals. Watch out for hormones. - ants .. they love on the area.
The River has countless natural holes. You can slide as the algae makes it slippery. Our guide Santiago and Nataly advises is to wear socks to prevent slipping. They also provided sunblock and towel even snacks coffee and muffins. Very personalized.
The trip ended with Nomada.mi dropping us at our hotel in Barichara.
Indeed an great experience to see this place with the comfort of your own vehicle and direct drop off to Barichara for a very reasonable price of $100 for 2 people .

Las Gachas was well worth the visit! A river that runs red due to the colour of the rock, with mini jacuzzi pools that you can jump into and natural water slides! We spent hours there and we were the only people! So quiet, you are completely in nature and it is stunning!!!

Difficult to get to and off the beaten track for most, but definitely worth the detour. Loved the experience of jumping into these mini pools or simply relaxing in the mini jacuzzis. Bring your warerproof cameras and take plenty of photos or videos. Absolutely love this place.

The Gachas ravine is very beautiful, a place where you can enjoy nature, the arrival at the ravine is all signposted so it is impossible to get lost, the entrance costs 4 thousand pesos per person and it is advisable to wear socks to avoid slipping (it is useful any type of media).

It is a very very nice place. To get there it is necessary to take a 45 minute walk, in our case it took us 1 hour 20 minutes since my family member was getting tired. The guide was super friendly all the time, he did not rush us at any time and was always patient.

The landscape is spectacular, the flagstone has different colors between reddish and green. The wells feel a little cold at first while the body acclimatizes but the experience is very great. We do the activity with the guide Beto (that's what they affectionately call him) and his number is 322 8989250

The site is spectacular. They are one of those beautiful landscapes of Colombia that little is known about.
In addition, the guide Yeison Sierra is very good, very friendly and knows the place very well.

A great and refreshing destination, its rock formations and the waterfalls in its natural jacuzzis, it is a fantastic and unique setting in Santander, to enjoy with family, friends, and take the best photos.
