We are a local family, providing environmental and sustainable whale watching in Mirissa, Sri Lanka since 2008. We are very keen on protecting the whales and also have been doing research about them for many years now. We are very proud that we are recommended in the new Sri Lankan lonely planet and by so many users of tripadvisor. For bookings please send us an email (anytime), give us a call (between 2 pm and 8 pm) or visit our office in Mirissa Harbour (2 pm to 6 pm). Our price is 6000 LKR for adults and 3000 LKR for kids. Small kids (< 6 years) are free of charge. A refund of 50% is given if we do not see any whales on the day of your trip. Please help to protect the whales!

My first trip to Srilanka and one of the first things which I wanted tick off from my checklist was - the whale and dolphin watching. From getting us ( friend and i - ladies from India ) picked from our hotel till we were disembarked after the trip they took good care of us. They even advised about the... More

If you are trying to get your head around which company to choose for a whale-watching excursion save yourself the headache and just book with these guys. What's more important: potentially saving a few rupees or feeling safe and well looked after? Getting as close as possible to the whale and possibly causing irreparable damage? Or knowing that the company... More

After not being able to spot a leopard at Yale national park, we were open to not being able to see any blue whales. The crew offered us plenty of food- yummy ginger cookies with tea, fresh fruit platter, cooked eggs and sausage and chocolate cake! Everyone on the ship was well attended to. We were the first boat to... More

I am glad we booked this organisation as the service was impeccably professional and warm from beginning to end. We were picked up from our hotel in a brand new Toyota van and brought there for 6 am check in, which was efficient and easy and immediately taken to the spotless boat and offered tea and biscuits. Shortly after take... More

Raja & the Whales Crew is the best Crew you can choose to observe Whales. Service is perfect, with great food and tea on board; crew is sooo positive, open and helpfull. But what's most important - their respect to animals (that we couldnt observe in other tour operators). We were very lucky to see 6 blue whales! so close... More

We were lucky to see more than 10 whales and 4 schools of dolphins in a very clean boat with professional staff who know what to do . We were served fresh coconuts and cold water and enjoyed every minute of the trip .

Great trip with Raja, very friendly and very informative. Didn't see blue whales but saw hundreds of dolphins and a killer whale which I believe is more rare to see than the blue whale. Cost 6500 Sri Lankan rupees and because we didn't see a blue whale they gave us 3000 back. We were offered sea sickness tablets 1/2 an... More

Good breakfast is served after departure. The staff is caring and always looking after the guests. The once feeling sick were looked after and got breakfast later or just toast if they wanted that. We didn't see blue whale but the staff made everything they could to please us. We saw other animals instead and were really happy. The tour... More

Throughout the trip they were attentive, we got breakfast, lunch, plenty of information. We saw 2 blue whales! and many dolphins. When we spotted the first blue, there were 4 other ships around, one left immediately after the first spotting, and eventually all left leaving our ship the last. They sent us the pictures they have taken that day. They... More

We chose this company on the back of a recommendation and it totally lived up to expectations. We booked our place on the trip a week in advance via email. On the day of the trip we were picked up from our hotel by tuk tuk organised by the company just before 6am and taken to the port. The guide... More
