We are a local family, providing environmental and sustainable whale watching in Mirissa, Sri Lanka since 2008. We are very keen on protecting the whales and also have been doing research about them for many years now. We are very proud that we are recommended in the new Sri Lankan lonely planet and by so many users of tripadvisor. For bookings please send us an email (anytime), give us a call (between 2 pm and 8 pm) or visit our office in Mirissa Harbour (2 pm to 6 pm). Our price is 6000 LKR for adults and 3000 LKR for kids. Small kids (< 6 years) are free of charge. A refund of 50% is given if we do not see any whales on the day of your trip. Please help to protect the whales!

This tour is a must if you are visiting Sri Lanka. The tour starts early in the morning and they take you inside the sea. After about an hour, you will start seeing either the whale or the dolphins. We first saw the whale. However we were far hence we could only spot the tail and then we saw a... More

We went in august upon reccomendation by our guesthouse as being a company that adhered to international law and regulation with regard to whale watching. There were numerous warnings about rough waters and there being a high liklihood of sea sickness. We went regardless and consequently got terrible sea sickness from the rough waters. The guides on the boat were... More

Raja & the Whales came out tops for their knowledgeable, friendly, top-notch crew - they made our experience pretty unforgettable! Plus we were very impressed by their ethical and responsible ethos towards not just whales but all marine life. We went away from our whale watching trip with an increased respect for these great creatures of the deep, and a... More

Myself and my girlfriend went whale watching with Raja on 25th August 2016 and we had one of the best days of our lives. It really was an amazing experience! However take note: The sea was rough and we were fortunate enough to feel fine the whole time BUT some where not. If you are not a good traveller be... More

We saw the whales with Raja in August in poor weather. The crew ran a tight ship and served drinks, fruit and cooked breakfast. Searched around and got a good position to see blue whales and dolphins, one even took some great photos and sent them through via facebook to everyone on board. However, while there was a warning on... More

Grade A whale watching experience, saw 3 sightings of blue whales, no tail flick but we were watching whales in their natural environment so can't expect it all. The guys were friendly, caring and so knowledgeable, taking care of my wife when seasick and still making sure she got the most out of the experience. Highly recommended, they care about... More

We were packed in huge boats for five hours and chasing whales was not that fun. It smelled petrol during the whole trip and people are fighting to see marine life above the boat. Very touristy and industrial activity. I would not recommend for an authentic nature lover.

Highly recommend this company. Highly professional, dedicated and enthusiastic. We saw over ten blue whales - so magical. The guys have eyes like hawks! The Raja Crew took excellent care of all of us. We were given a life jacket upon entering the boat then offered tea, ginger biscuits, seasickness pills and seasickness bags. Later on, they dished out cake,... More

The y take care of all guest with really first class service even by high waves and a rough sea. And the explanations about the whales was also very good and interesting. We did't beleive that we will sea such... More

I think we had a good/lucky day and we saw 11 whales on this trip! It was very memorable. It is a bit more expensive than other trips but the money goes back into conservation, so do the right thing and go with raja! They took photos for the group much better than I couldve done, so sit back and... More
