We are a local family, providing environmental and sustainable whale watching in Mirissa, Sri Lanka since 2008. We are very keen on protecting the whales and also have been doing research about them for many years now. We are very proud that we are recommended in the new Sri Lankan lonely planet and by so many users of tripadvisor. For bookings please send us an email (anytime), give us a call (between 2 pm and 8 pm) or visit our office in Mirissa Harbour (2 pm to 6 pm). Our price is 6000 LKR for adults and 3000 LKR for kids. Small kids (< 6 years) are free of charge. A refund of 50% is given if we do not see any whales on the day of your trip. Please help to protect the whales!

The sea was perticularly rough and half of the passengers(not the crew) vomited including me and my sister. I have never been seasick but I guess there's a first for everything :) I highly recommend taking some form of pill or gum for motion sickness.( Me and my sister used a special type of gum, but that was apparently not... We deliberately chose these guys due to their awareness of the impact what they do and the industry as a whole has on the local wildlife. They seem to do their best to ensure at little impact on the environment as possible. Whilst other boats were full speed across the paths or whales, surely frightening them, the Raja team took... Very nice crew, raja tried everything to get us satisfied! we saw more than ten blue whales, a few of them at a very close distance. The food was good as well. Furthermore, the crew took good care of those people, who fell sick. great job!

There are not enough words to describe how genuine and outstanding the staff of Raja and the whales are. From the art at they were very honest and told us that the seas are a bit rough and if we didn't want to go anymore that would be ok. We decided to try it out anyway because we were told... More

Me and my friend chose Raja and the whales for our day trip due to their fantastic trip advisor reputation and they didn't disappoint. They were thorough and helpful in every aspect. Unfortunately I was rather sea sick as the sea was rough during our visit. The crew provided me with anti sickness medication, wet towels, water and even a... More

Me and a friend decided to book a spontaneous whale watching trip during our weekend stay in Mirissa. We were picked up from our hotel on time, the crew were so friendly, they prepared so much food for our journey out to sea, I can't fault a single part of the experience. Oh, and we saw lots of blue whales... More

This professionally run operation is as much about education and research as it is about the amazing opportunity to see whales. There is their track record of spotting whales miles away - we saw 5 on our day, the safety aspects are covered and the way these guys manage to serve up breakfast to all guests including omelette while you... We chose Raja and the whales because of reviews and were not disappointed. Price was good ( 6000LKR) and they had a pretty new boat. Sea was really rough but they gave as sea sickness tablets and looked after those who were sick. And of course we saw whales too! 2 different blue whales. The other one many times. They... More

We chose Raja and the whales because of trip advisor reviews, and even then they exceeded my expectations. The personal touches, tea, biscuits, breakfast were great. I will say to guests though, out of 21, only 5 of us were ok, everyone else was sea sick. They did warn us the sea was a bit rough. I loved the ethical... More
