Definitely a bucket list trip! Hubby and I went at the end of July 2018 as part of a day trip from Turneffe atoll to the Blue Hole, Half Moon Caye, and aquarium. We enjoyed the snorkeling experience and saw neat coral and fish. Take...More
We took a day trip to the Blue Hole from where we were staying in Turneffe Atoll. The snorkeling was so great around Turneffe that we almost didn't go to Lighthouse Reef, but I'm glad we did. This place is so unique and beautiful that...More
As a diver, the blue hold is over-rated. Yes it is neat to see the stalagmites and understanding how it was formed, but the visibility wasn't great and there inst much to see in the hole itself. Although, the dives after the Blue Hole on...More
I was fascinated by the area view of the great blue hole, so I scheduled a trip just to dive into the great blue hole. I went down to the max depth an advanced PADI diver allowed to dive. The visibility was not so good...More
We had a 2 hour boat ride from Turneffe Atoll. Very choppy.
This is an impressive structure. We were at 130 feet by 4 minutes and starting to ascend by 9 minutes. The caves and stalactites are impressive but obviously your deco limits prevent a...More
Took a 68 mile trip with Ramon's Village Divers. Despite 4-6 ft seas, 46 foot Newton handled admirably. Things got flat 1/2 way there and on return. Ramon's provided breakfast and a good picnic lunch on an island. The Great Blue Hole is basically a...More
I just dived with the excellent dive masters and personnel of Huracan Diving (review on them submitted).
THE BLUE HOLE: The dive master did a prior training deep dive to gauge everyone skills and comfort because diving the Blue Hole requires you to be proficient...More
the chances of making it there and not spending a fortune with dive shops who will claim this easy dive is horrifically dangerous unless you have advanced training are slim to none. belize is horrifically overpriced when considering local workers told me they are lucky...More
You haven’t seen blue until you’ve seen the Blue Hole. We were fortunate enough to be able to travel by air to this stunning and incomparable geological wonder. Truly one of the most unique sights on the planet. If you can do it, then by...More
I did snorkeling around and then into the blue hole. It is a little on the deep side for snorkeling - 20 to 40 feet, but worth it. The fish were plentiful and the dive into the hole from the sheer wall to the overhang...More

Sorry just saw this. You cannot do a first dive at the Blue Hole. You have to have a few dives under your belt. We were certified months before our trip, and hired a private guide to do 6 dives around AC before we attempted Blue Hole. We did just fine, although my husband ran out of air so that was a little scary. So do other dives before even looking at the Blue Hole.
