This is a very unique dive. Starts at 90 to 95 feet and max depth is recreational limit. At 90 feet the sheer wall cuts back about 25 to 30 feet and you swim around huge stalagmites and stalagmites. I have never dove anything like it anywhere else. You will probably have a thermocline and it's easy to get a little narced. The wall starts at about 25 feet and from there is a gradual slope to the surface, so the safety stop is easy. I recommend the dive for anyone who has some experience with deep dives and dives with a computer

I took a 6 passenger plane to fly over the Blue Hole. The flight was from Caye Caulker Island, Belize. It's best to see it from the air because if it's size, uniqueness and the beautiful colors. Wear something cool because the puddle jumper gets hot in there and take a bottled water with you. There are public restrooms at the Caye Caulker airport. Take a good camera or tablet because it's definitely photo worthy. If you are in Caye Caulker there is a Small Pale Blue building where Ms. B will book your flight. It's across from Jan's Hotel. Cash Only.

Our family chose to do the flyover rather than a boat tour. We considered the Blue Hole a must do. We also knew that the dive/ snorkel was supposed to not be as good an experience as diving/snorkeling elsewhere in Belize. The tour was via MAYA airlines from San Pedro. The flight was an hour and you got views of the Blue Hole from both sides of the plane so no one missed out. My son got to sit in co-pilot's seat which he really enjoyed. The site itself was amazing and worth seeing.

Our Ponant cruise ship anchored at Half Moon Cay for the day and we were offered SCUBA diving at Great Blue Hole and Lighthouse Reef. This was an extremely efficient way to dive Belize. The divemasters contracted from @Sea Sports Belize met us at the ship at 7:30am and took us directly to the Great Blue Hole. The water was amazingly glassy smooth and made for a fast ride. We toured the hole and were in the water at 8:30 we were the only boat there! When we completed the dive, there were several boats that had arrived and were just getting into the water. Our divemasters said they left Belize City at 4:30 to meet us at 7:30! The dive itself was what everyone else has reported. 139 ft., stalactites and all that. Many have more amazing pictures and descriptions than I have. When we completed the dive, After a short surface interval at Half Moon Cay, we went for a dive along the reef wall. It was beautiful! We were preoccupied by two Silky Sharks that cruised around us for most of the dive, but there was lots of coral and other fish as well. I don't need to dive The Great Blue Hole again, but would love to dive the barrier reef again.
